The American constitution 2nd amendment? It is not the right to own a gun. Its the entitlement to a state militia?

Amendment 2
The Right to Bear Arms
"A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

the right of the people I think is what keeps guns in the hands of people
(not a lawyer but I slept at a holiday in express one time)

in the old days there were armories for the local militias

but by and large the rural people had firearms for a variety of reasons so the framers wanted people to be able to keep their weapons.

you might make the argument that each state has an national guard and that takes care of it - but the framers also knew that governments can usurp power

Even the 2nd president said ""I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical,"

so guns aren't going away any time soon.

the best the US can hope for is strong punishments for using them illegally - and the preventing them from legally owning guns in the future.

I thought it was the right to bare arms. I've been cutting the sleeves off my shirts for nothing!
Rights being "regulated". 🤔🙄
