What made America Great?

What happened to leaders like this?? I know he wasn't perfect and you're all going to tell me all about the things he did wrong or illegal or whatever ... but I just love this speech...

And please don't misunderstand me. I'm NOT an open borders advocate. But I DO believe strongly that lawful, orderly immigration is and has been one of America's strengths for 240+ years.

"If we ever close the door to new Americans, our leadership in the world would soon be lost."
~Ronald Reagen, President, USA

Any biologist will explain to you that diversity is the key to health, growth, and longevity.

Healthy democracies need and encourage high levels of socio-cultural diversity permeated by tolerance and mutual understanding.

Fascist states seek uniformity, and intolerance for anything that isn't like them.
(ein Volk! ein Reich! ein Führer!)

Hey, america - guess what you've become

@newjaninev2 no offense, but you are looking at us from afar. I am worried about the potentially slippery slope we are on, but this is not the first time country faced this problem. The US is very resilient.

@samueltyler2 The speech warns that America’s leadership in the world would soon be lost.

From out here in the world I can assure you it’s already happening, and at a staggering pace.

@newjaninev2 I am well aware of that. Our government is unlike anyone the world in that we have no reset button. The founding fathers and mothers of our nation the best future government would not be a parliamentary one, feeling, I assume that having three branches with Congress being bicameral would provide a better structure. They never thought that one reckless group could gain enough acceptance to win the controlling role in all three. Our only method to alter the government is through elections that are scheduled. Whether enough votes could be raised here given the current status, to call a vote of no confidence is moot.

@newjaninev2 You're absolutely right about the message of biologists. It is true. On this we agree. But I think as my friend @samueltyler2 said, America is far more resilient than our current struggles.

As for President Reagan prediction about America's leadership role, you are not wrong. I work in the international community and I see & feel the impact every day. It is truly sad. But I see this as a temporary situation. Yes, it will take much work to restore our reputation as a trusted partner, but there are many who see the need for this coalition rebuilding and will put in the work.

@samueltyler2 A big party of what is happening here, Sam, is that the legislative and judicial branches are subrogating themselves to the executive. This is something that will need to be reversed soon.

@sarabee1995 thanks for the support of my position, which is hopefully correct. I am really seriously frightened that our resilience has been impaired by the fact the even the judiciary has fallen under the influence if not control of the executive.
Also thanks for being called a friend.

@samueltyler2 your Supreme Court was corrupted several years ago - it was preparation for what is now beginning.

The legislative branch was easy to nullify - ambition and self-interest have made cowards of them all.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 We've been friends a long time, Sam. The occasional heated discussion or disagreement shouldn't change that.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sarabee1995 Awe, thanks. May I say that I love you, in my own way?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@newjaninev2 I don't disagree. The radicals have been working to stack the judiciary since Gingrich's time, right under the eye of everyone. It is amazing to me how they were able to gain this much power. I am only comforted by the history, that whenever such power has corrupted in the past, in other countries, those that did it ended up on a rope!
