Gun violence and gangs1!!Have no idea....

Madmonk · M
Culture rot from the inside. We don’t see the inherent value in the other side. We need the dreamers and the doers who make those dreams happen. We will never get what we want until we advocate for someone whose cause isn’t our own. America will never be defeated from the outside. We will be torn apart from within.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@Madmonk " We need the dreamers and the doers who make those dreams happen"

Unfortunately the cultural rot comes in the form of people of whom -when presented with someone articulate and who does want to create things for society- twist what these productive people say and do into some negativity and attempt to drag them down, because such people remind the lazy that how they are conducting their lives is not good, and that they are not good people, which is an affront to their ego.

And unfortunately, websites have vague rules based on subjective feelings on things like "causing discomfort" and such productive and outspoken people (because they want to get other members of society on board with helping people and with a self-improvement attitude) end up getting flagged by groups of bitter people wanting to drag anyone who rises up back down to their level of misery.

Note how pretty much every bully nowadays hides behind the idea that their target has committed some grave evil, and that this target is always some person with the passion and confidence to dare to bring themselves and others up. And I'm not talking stupid feel good hashtags, I'm talking encouragement to get into shape, to start charities etc. Reminds people of their inadequacies, and of course you can always find someone not doing so well as said person and frame it as an attack on said person (and no matter how bad things seem you can always find someone worse off) and so society imposes on itself a constant blackhole that sucks out of society any ability to improve.

The USA faces multiple threats, not one single threat that will break the country; but most are internal.

Externally:

- Economic competition from China, India, etc; not bringing America down but considerably weakening its trading power.

- Political interference from hostile states, much of via the Internet by both subversive "social-media" propaganda and by sabotaging important governmental and commercial systems.

- Loss of vital raw materials by political machinations or by physical depletion - the latter is likely to exacerbate the former for imported materials.

These affect many countries, not only the USA.

- Hardening attitudes, bringing enemies, against the USA resulting from its overseas activities.

- Isolationism by US policy (damaging international relations with possible domestic consequences).

- Contempt probably based on ignorance, for other countries and their cultures by many Americans. This helps no-one, and may even damage alliances.
***

Internally and irrespective of Party or Government, the hazards may include any of -

- Growing bitterness and divisions in political, economic and social matters, with decreasing willingness to understand let alone accept others' views, to find overlaps and compromises, to accept one's own fallibility.

- "Powers behind the throne"; by assorted, self-serving campaigners, commercial-interests and manipulators thinking themselves more important than Presidents and Congress.

- Growing personal isolation as people retreat into their mental and social bunkers. These fuelled by various factors including valuing anonymous opinion blogs rather than real reports by named, professional journalists, preferring working at home rather than in offices (for those whose work is desk-bound), preferring Facebook over face-to-face relationships, fear of differing ideas, and increasing dependence on Internet-purchases and deliveries.

- Increasing numbers and severities of epidemics as anti-vaccination and similar campaigners increasingly have their way.

- Decreasing trust generally in anything scientific, in a country that relied for its success on science and engineering in an increasingly scientific world generally.

- Increasing clinging to cults and "conspiracy theories".

- Social breakdowns around deep-rooted, casual attitudes towards violence

- Social breakdowns around deep wealth divisions, with strong "sink or swim" attitudes.

- Addressing serious problems by scapegoating and politicising rather than by co-operatively investigating real causes and cures.

- Politicising and/or commercialising everything to such an extent the real values are lost.

- An entertainments industry dedicated to the cheap, the meretricous, the un-original and the untalented; so the genuinely talented (of whom there are many) seem sidelined in favour of low-value, low-quality, quick-profit epherema. This may bring cultural decay by encouraging desires for instant gratification without thought or effort.

- Complacency, with "I've always done it my way" attitudes.

Each of those internal threats alone would not wreck the United States of America, but do not do it any good; and their combination creates a formidable enemy-within.

Some of these difficulties are common in many nations, of course, but one or two seem particularly strong in the USA.
meJess · F
Inability to compromise or see any validation in other points of view or solutions. This leads to conflict internally and to projection of power externally, resulting in security issues. Competitive culture where arguments or disrespect is settled with firearms.

Sorry to say that the greatest threat to the USA is it’s own culture.

🤔🤔🤔 IMO the greatest threat comes from globalist billionaires who are attempting to impose their own world views and opinions on our culture and our economy. Far left Marxist/Socialist/Progressive activism is the tool they use. They DO have to pay their activists, because there are not enough fools who really believe what they are selling.

The 15 million illegal immigrants which flooded our nation with terrorist gang members and Hamas activists are a RESULT of the machinations of far left billionaires.

"Most billionaires active in American politics—such as George Soros, Hansjörg Wyss, and Mark Zuckerberg —have wielded their money and influence to advance left-wing progressive causes. Only a few politically active billionaires are on the right."

https://capitalresearch.org/article/billionaires-pushing-left-wing-causes/

Let's not forget Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffet.

The ONLY thing we can do to fight their influence is what we have already done. We have elected Donald Trump to fight for us. When his term is over, I don't know what we will do.
4meAndyou · F
@ArishMell Here in the United States "Progressive" is a term tied to a long list of toxic behaviors.

One, as I mentioned, is the attempt to permanently cement wins for the Democrat/Socialist/Progressive/Marxist party by importing a giant population of illegals to increase the number of seats they own in the House and the Senate. 15 million to date. Our House and Senate are filled with representatives and Senators based on population...NOT on the number of citizens who vote. Once the Progressive Democrats realized that, they opened our borders wide, and initiated the destruction of our economy...because MANY of the illegals go directly onto the dole. 42 BILLION dollars just for subsidized housing!!! FREE medical care, welfare, social security and Medicare for the fraudsters...on and on.

Another toxic trend the "Progressives" want to cement into place is teaching VERY young children, as young as 5 or 6 years old, that they can just decide whether they want to be a boy or a girl...and stocking their young libraries with books with pictures showing how a man makes love to a man. In ONE state, these toxic people have even passed a law that allows them to remove a child from their family home and their parents if the parents fail to use the childs NEW pronouns.

A third toxic trend in our public schools is caused by the teachers unions. Randy Weingarten, their leader, even stated publicly that their aim with their curriculum is to address the needs of the "whole child". Basic education, such as reading, writing, math, and science is taking a back door to brainwashing our children by teaching them to be social justice activists, and screwing up their heads regarding their own sexuality.

I could go on and on, by my shoulders are getting stiff from typing too long. I think you get the picture.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@4meAndyou I do get the picture. Thankyou for explaining it.

I would not class much of that as either very "progressive" or "Marxist" particularly, irrespective of the general ideology of the administrations responsible, but I can understand why it is so sensitive.
4meAndyou · F
@ArishMell I realize, also, that the American definition of "Progressive" is not, in fact, progressive. However, the policies the Democrat/Socialist/Progressive/Marxist party are pushing will eventually lead this country into full on globalist style socialism. That would actually destroy our nation.
The MAGA cult. Education is the only thing that helps, but they're tearing that down for obvious reasons.
@Therealsteve you replied to me saying neither side is a cult. Technically true, but that was just a random comment that had nothing to do with mine then?
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@NerdyPotato No, it did, hence it was talking about what isn't or isn't a cult, in response to what you said about cults. And hence it mentioned Trump, just as your comment did. Now, could you stop playing word games and actually address what I said?

"Yes, I am sure about that. Do show me another "uniform" that consists of just a hat.

Any Trump video I go on to I see people on the right disagreeing with him over certain aspects. You've got the whole criticism of his support of Israel by some on the right, calling him "MIGA".

There are plenty of people who have stopped supporting him, just as there are many people who stopped supporting Biden.

The human brain has evolved to only be able to properly understand around 100 people - the size of the tribe. We now have nationstates of tens of millions of people, yet our brains haven't caught up and still need this simplified view of the world. With things like "the right this", "the left thinks that" as if there are just two people "left" and "right".

It's where all this usage of the word "cult" comes from. It isn't possible for any mind to process the individual thoughts, feelings and beliefs of hundreds of thousands of people, and so we categorize people into different groups and assign what we believe they think on to them to allow us to quickly make sense of a very large and complex reality of which we have little lifespan to deeply understand. We don't like to consider the limits of our minds, it is an afront to the ego, and so the negative connotations associated with the word "cult" is a favourite of people. It allows them to simultaneously simplify a complex reality, minimize the realisation of their mental limitations, and place themselves above the people they are simplifying."
@Therealsteve
"Yes, I am sure about that. Do show me another "uniform" that consists of just a hat.
No, but that doesn't change the fact that MAGA uses a hat as a uniform.

Any Trump video I go on to I see people on the right disagreeing with him over certain aspects. You've got the whole criticism of his support of Israel by some on the right, calling him "MIGA". Non-MAGA republicans disagreeing doesn't contradict my statement that MAGA members do agree with everything he says.

This doesn't have anything to do with MAGA either.

It isn't possible for any mind to process the individual thoughts, feelings and beliefs of hundreds of thousands of people
The hardcore MAGA members do not have individual thoughts. When you ask them a question that hasn't been answered by Trump, they are stumped because parroting him is all they ever do. That's what makes them a cult.
Fascism is taking hold, and supposedly "good" people are pretending not to recognize it.

Outdated ideology! 'One nation under God' is a good example. 'Manifest destiny' is another. 'The economy is more important than the environment' is a third example.

Pandering.

Both the left and right are being pushed to extremism to widen their need for political support.

The concept of governing for the central majority is gone.

@Adogslife "The concept of governing for the central majority is gone."

It isn't really possible when one group will call you an extremist fascist etc for disagreeing with just 1% of their ever increasingly extreme and delusional policies.

Small minded people in groups with nothing but their like minded echo chamber to influence them.
People only worried about appearing to be right rather than actually attempting to be correct.

People that refuse to exhibit any ability to widen their perspective.

Unbending people.

People that think they have the right to force their beliefs on another individual or group.

People.

The fix???

Liberalism, and Trump is doing fine
Renkon · M
The greatest threat to the United States lies not beyond its borders, but within—where the erosion of family bonds, the decay of core values, and an overzealous grip on political correctness will destroy the nation.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Renkon I think we could apply that to many countries, but we'd need define those bonds and values; and which are being eroded, how and why.

Some values are universal, good and genuinely valuable; but others are now only "valuable" to those who can exploit them for their own ends to others' detriment, so need go.

People were worrying similarly hundreds of years ago although social change was generally slower then; but in hindsight many changes threw out the bad. Whether every replacement was good is a moot point, but most weere. Society has to change and adapt otherwise it risks simply stifling itself to death in that way.
The mindset.
