Do you dislike all Americans because of their President?

A very similar post was up for a short time yesterday before being removed for reasons only known to the poster. However, the deletion meant that some very positive comments disappeared along with an interesting sub-thread with views about why Trump was considered the lesser of two evils to some voters. I am giving a chance to those who responded to re-post or for new contributions.

Here's my answer:

No. I know of many fine Americans who have morals and integrity and who are suffering a great deal of angst an the moment as they see what's happening.

Absolutely not. I can’t think of a country that hasn’t had weak or terrible leaders, and America is no exception.

And I’ve had enough personal experiences working alongside Americans to never give up on them lightly. You can celebrate differences and make fun of each other but still stand together on the things that matter.

This is Ofcourse ignoring the obvious fact that you can’t hold 300 million people responsible for one man. I’d guess there’s even a percentage who did vote for him who might be having some regrets. I’ve certainly cast a vote I wish I hadn’t in my life.

I think the lasting impression on me is that a great country of very skilled people, why are their leadership options always so bad?

@WintaTheAngle I think many of us have asked that question in recent months.

@FreddieUK I think the challenge is, that we now have to deal with Trump directly, but without creating an Us/Them situation. He’s bad news and he’s going to wreck Americas international standing if he carries on this trajectory, but the American people must not be made to feel a door has closed on them. It won’t be simple.

@WintaTheAngle Absolutely agree.
