Working 60 hrs at a salary job "employment at will" contracts, employers threatening to fire, is that freedom? Paying $8000 deductible insurance,

is that freedom? Having to buy a car because there are no trains, or quick mass transits, is that freedom? Can we love the USA and still want to improve America is that wrong? Worrying about being shot at school and doing safety drills at school is that freedom? is Having the cheapest fast food on every block instead of healthy cheap options on every block to walk to, is that freedom? children having to be inside afraid of kidnappers and homeless, is that freedom? Having to live outside city center because cities are run down with homeless and crime, is that freedom? Is there freedom of speech in the USA or have people been silenced by the USA government when they voice their opinions and want to improve the country like charlie Chaplin who was banned from The US after making fun of Hitler, and asked to go to Switzerland? Is USA the most free country or maybe a lie?

It absolutely is imperative to acknowledge the problems in your country and want to see things improved.
Patriotism is like saying “I’m proud of my house and will work towards improving it.”
Nationalism is saying “My house is the best because it is my house and I will hear nothing to the contrary!”

@Straylight Orwell had a very very good essay about this.

America is free. The $8k deductible is a shame. Mine was $10k. It was $1,500 before ObamaCare screwed us all. Plus my premiums doubled. So votes matter. Freedom.

Don't go to fast food places. No customers, and they will change. There's a market for fast cheap crap apparently. Your choice not to buy that crap. I don't. Freedom of choice.

Living in the city is dangerous? Oh yeah. Again, votes matter. People vote for the ills perpetrated on the community. Nowhere is that more evident in blue cities with rising crime. Watch who you vote for. City dwellers have no one to complain to except themselves. They voted for and continue to vote for failed policies and those championing them. Voting equals freedom.

Censorship sucks. But people voted for those people censoring us. And they continue to support sites that do so. Freedom.

The country is as free as we the people make it.

The United States is going through a "trying" period to say the least....you can take income inequality as you did, thats huge. And Corporations are now people who have a disproportionate influence over who gets elected and how they vote

Mitch McConnell who gets most of his backing from private health insurance concerns has zero interest in getting ACA (Obama Care) through the Senate

Can we love the USA and still want to improve America? I was taught this was patriotism, pure and simple....but we're divided blaming things on mythical entities

My Grandmother came to this nation from Ireland because she would have had to divide up the farm and there wasn't enough for her and her Brother to divide...so she came here ,married had nine children and thrived. I'm not pulling up stakes because its hard times

@Tetsuya Swedish governemt did not force a lock down like USA, Scandinavia does not ban people for critiquing the government, they have freedom of speech, not like USA where some have been punished for their concerns like Charlie Chaplin and banned.
Carazaa · F
@Tetsuya Over 1,600 books were banned in U.S. school districts in one year – and the number is increasing, is that freedom of speech? How to be healthy books and natural cancer cure books were banned in the USA but were allowed in Europe and Mexico, Is that freedom of speech? You have been lied to for good reasons!
Carazaa · F
@Tetsuya many different agencies investigated Charlie Chaplin foreinstance,- the FBI, the CIA, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Post Office, the House Un-American Activities Committee. His most controversial film was the 1940 film "The Great Dictator." This was a satire of Hitler. He made fun of Hitler and was banned from the USA!
Well I work for very less then. No extra time. My average work hours like 270 hours a month. With a fixed pay. My colleague have benefits they work like 200 hours and fixed income more pay since I am a man but my boss supports young girls 😉 so they get raise 16-20% whereas since I am the only male and responsible for their job I get 8%.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Everyone should want to improve their home because your concerns are REAL and they are getting worse. And it doesn't matter who is in charge, these problems are real and increasing. People need to come together to fix them, not just trust some politician who has never worked in their interests will do it.

It is good and healthy to raise those questions from time to time and seriously question the extent and quality of 'freedom'.
Freedom is America's enemy. We lost.
MethDozer · M
Yes, yes it is freedom. It's the freedom to step on the other on the climb. Freedom the exploit,. Freedom to exclude. Freedom to profit on misery.

Yes it's the most free country.... For some.
