The Brits are about to change one word in their national anthem. Can you imagine the chaos that would happen if the US had to do this?

Yep, written by a slave-owning attorney with the additional stanza: 😞
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
I was also watching a discussion among people who thought our new national anthem should be the theme from “The A Team”. Worked for me. 😅

@bijouxbroussard This doesn't surprise me or move my position on the matter because the great majority of founding fathers and other historical leaders had morals that would not pass muster today. None of them would have respected me as a person.
Its totally expected. I understand your view but to me its more about all the Americans who fought for our country singing it and all of that. What the song had come to mean to the country.
@REMsleep And just as that concept of us as human beings has largely evolved, (along with our Constitution via Amendments) I’m not wedded to that anthem. As both I and others have mentioned, it wasn’t always this country’s anthem.
