Asylum seekers do not worry me. Most are fit young man, and should be given work straight away: tending parks, filling potholes, of which there are many, agricultural work. Five years in the army and serve their adopted country that they long to be members of. Learn English too. Keep them busy, so they become valued citizens.
Spain is welcoming them and has them working.

@peterlee They should indeed be allowed to work and earn for themselves, but not take jobs away by working cheaply. Many already have a grasp of English, but need time to improve it to at least the minimum required to be a member of Reform UK. Not sure that our professional Army needs them to get in the way of the willing volunteers.

My Dad used to say, “It’s not that people are wrong, exactly. They just know so much stuff that isn’t true.”

The two easiest groups of people to control are those who are angry, and those who are scared. Anger makes you want to act, and stops you from thinking clearly; fear makes you want to hide, and stops you from thinking at all.

@Rabscuttle Believe you me, there is no interest whatsoever in keeping people on edge or at each other's throats (there might be a vested interest from "insurgent" parties such as Reform UK). It is paralysing government and draining our resources right now.
Rabscuttle · 41-45
@SunshineGirl I don't believe you- because I've studied history. You can get away with almost anything if the people and organizations that would hold to you account for your behavior are spending all their energy trying to tear one another down. Draining resources and making people desperate isn't an unfortunate consequence; it's the entire point.
Rabscuttle · 41-45
@SnickersDOM Thank you for proving my point; but it's unnecessary.

Rev up the anti migrant parties.. in hopes it starts a trend..

@FreddieUK I never said that.. I was offering an explanation to the lie told..
a group of ppl wanted another group of ppl to feel emboldened to go set more fires..

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I see...I did misunderstand. Apologies. Yes, that is exactly what is going on for a number of different motives - some of them purely venal.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout It has started a trend . . the idiotic, destructive one described above.

If it’s under refurbishment it could be used for anyone when finished.

If you didn’t let in an asylum seekers the people wouldn’t start those baseless rumors
DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard well I’m an immigrant don’t make assumptions
bijouxbroussard · F
@DownTheStreet There are plenty of European immigrants who see it differently when it’s not someone like them. I’d love to know why they do.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@DownTheStreet Of course they would. If they are idiotic enough to accept without questioning what they read on social media, they will be easily manipulated into turning against whoever the media decide to scapegoat next.
Birdbox1986 · 31-35, F
Exactly I bet you they blamed it on me when I’m in Brisbane Australia and been up all night in my house
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
The perpetrator(s) will express sorrow and regret at their trial when forced to confront what they have done. But the wilful credulity of the people will continue. The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) has reported alarming falls in reading comprehrnsion since 2015, including basic errors arising from "speed reading" and an inability to reach a critically reasoned decision based on more than one source of information.

It just goes to show that people don't want open borders.
