The day that Elizabeth died, a few women gathered outside Buckingham palace and sang God Save the King. It was very poignant -- sang very gently and sweetly, it both expressed mourning over the loss of the Queen and well-wishes for the new King.
The original lyrics had the word King, and the song was written for a specific King who was facing danger in battle at the time.

I do think "Rule Britannia" would be awesome as our anthem, but it is what it what is.
TAReturns · M
Yes in fact it was originally written as King before being changed 70 years ago so now it changes back.
But I don’t expect it to be sung with nearly as much fervor as it had been the last 70 years

TAReturns · M

@TAReturns Can you imagine Charles and Diana on their wedding night?
Diana: "Come to bed, sweetie"
Charles "No dear not with the light on". lol geez.
