@AngelUnforgiven I think a huge part of the problem is that Zelensky is not the president of Ukraine. At least not the legitimate president. His term ended over a year ago. He simply refused to hold elections. Having banned all opposition and shut down the churches and sent almost 2 million Ukrainians to their death. Oh and don't forget that before the war started Ukraine had a population of almost 60 million people. It now has a population of around 20 million. When 2/3's of the people in a nation vote with their feet and leave the nation rather than suffer and die in a war that the government wants so the governors can get filthy rich I kind of doubt that such a government is legitimate.

@hippyjoe1955 his term ended in May 2024, but the Ukrainian Constitution mandates he stays until a new president is elected, which can only happen after martial law is lifted. I am aware. It does not matter if he's a sitting or former he still deserves respect.

@AngelUnforgiven Yeah not really. He is an actor. He is a grifter. He is illegitimate as president. The only reason there is a war is because the west wants one.

@hippyjoe1955 I think you will find it's mainly women and children who have left Ukraine and you cannot blame them for that. Also don't forget how many fighting age Russian men have left Russia, 100s of thousands.

@AngelUnforgiven I don't think we are discussing Trump and his many many many failures. We are talking about Zelensky. I have a dozen Ukrainians who fled the war in my acquaintance. We talk regularly. We are invited to their houses for meals. Only one of them speaks ill of Russia. The rest weep for their nation and the needless deaths that are happening but they don't blame Russia. One family is three generations. Daughters Husband Wife and a Russian mother in law. Wonderful family. The wife if pregnant with their 4th child.

@hippyjoe1955 I don't think that we were talking about war or even Zelensky's accomplishments or lack there of. The ONLY thing that I mentioned was his reception on American soil. That's it! Nothing more.

Yes there are ways you inform another world leader that he is viewed as being illegitimate. In Russia Putin is viewed the the same reverence as Peter the Great or Catherine the Great for what he has done for Russia. Zelensky???? Yeah not so much.

All I said was my opinion that the man deserves respect not only as sitting president, be it if he were a diplomat, a foreign official, or any other representative from a visiting country. No matter the title. They all deserve respect as visitors who were asked to come here, as visitors.Point blank period. I don't care about BIbi, Obama, I know absolutely nothing about that, or anything else that you are talking about. I'm not trying to have a political debate this early in the morning. @Khenpal1 It used to be 57 million. it is now around 20 million. Those are pretty accurate numbers. IOW 2/3 of Ukraine's population has left the country.

@Khenpal1 Very true. Care to continue this silly form of debate? I have 12 friends who came from Ukraine since Canada opened the door to Ukrainians trying to flee the war. I was in McDonalds yesterday and overheard a family speaking Ukrainian. Lovely couple 3 kids. I then went to Walmart and over heard a mother and daughter speaking to each other in Ukrainian. Not finding the things I needed at Walmart I went to Safeway. The couple ahead of me in the checkout were speaking Ukrainian. If there are that kind of numbers of Ukrainians in the city I live in which has a population of just over a million people. While talking to my new Ukrainian friends they tell me of their family who is Germany and the US and Poland and.... I can well believe that 2/3 of Ukrainians have left Ukraine given the silly war that is being fought in their homeland.

@Khenpal1 And you believe official numbers why? When every time you turn around you hear someone speaking Ukrainian. I was listening to an American commentator who was debating the numbers. He said he found it hard to believe that the population in Ukraine had dropped that much. Then he was thinking about it. His dentist is from Ukraine. He called for a plumber and a Ukrainian showed up to fix his pipes. Then he started to think of the number of Ukrainians he interacted with on a daily basis and he reached the same conclusion that I did. The numbers are not reflected in official numbers. Kind of like the official story that Russia is losing and Russia's economy is about to tank and Venezuela is exporting drugs to the US or and you should get another jab for COVID.

@Khenpal1 Yeah that number is wildly low. The million or more that are in Canada are not classed as refugees. The ones in the US are not classed as refugees. The ones in Germany are not classed as refugees.
