Trump made it happened. 30 days ceasefire in Ukraine while enough time to get the deal done.

To end the Ukraine war. Meanwhile Zelesnky should be a sitting duck for the peace agreement. No more attacking Moscow.

Even though I don't trust Zelensky's desperation, but I trust Trump's judgment.

A ceasfire is not an armistice or the end of a war. It is a pause in fighting, and allows both sides to rest, recover and re-arm in case no peace treaty comes about.

Russia is interested in peace only if it means ultimately the end of Ukraine's identity and sovereignty. President Putin has never made that a secret, expect perhaps to Russian citizens led to believe his lie about a "special military operation" to remove the Ukraine's supposedly-Nazi government. (An elected government and president; and he of Jewish descent.) Even calling it a "war" is highly illegal in Russia, unless perhaps you put all the blame on Ukraine, as Putin does.

Even if he could use that excuse, Putin still flouted all international laws and the treaty between Ukraine, Russia, UK and the USA that guarantees Ukaine's independence in return for Ukraine surrendering a nuclear arsenal that was Russia's anyway (ex-USSR).

Trust Trump's judgment? Donald Trump, assisted by James Vance and Peter Hegseth, genuinely want the fighting to stop but has switched from supporting Ukraine to supporting Putin's Russia.

It is not as if the USA has decided to be neutral. Far from it. Trump has turned to openly supporting Vladimir Putin even to the UN. He has stated wanting Ukraine's minerals (hedging his bets so if Russia eventually wins he can still take them). That's when not urging evicting the Palestinians from the Gaza area of Palestine, and taking over the Panama Canal and Greenland - even hinting at using military force, against international law never mind morality.

.........

(Gaza? Trump has publicly claimed wanting it becoming an exclusive holiday-spot for the rich. Though he might not benefit personally, he's likely thinking most of the developers, operators and visitors would be Israelis and Americans. And Russian oligarchs....?

Panama? Fear or jealousy of China operating ports near it. He seems to think the Canal is an American military channel now Chinese operated. It is neither. It is Panamanian owned and operated for all shipping. He has never made his claim a secret.

Greenland? Vying with Russia and China for mineral deposits and Arctic sea-routes opened by climate-change. He has been more secretive here, but first revealed this expansionist aim eight years ago, in his first go at being the President of the USA.)

A ceasefire wouldn’t end the war, a ceasefire would give Ukraine the chance to regroup, why would Putin agree to that, Putin wants the war to end, a ceasefire wound not end the war,
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@ididntknow He might because it also gives him the same opportunity; but yes, he still want the war to end... on his terms including the loss of Ukraine as a nation.
A step in the right direction. Just gotta get Putin to agree.

@BizSuitStacy Putin is setting a trap, fella.
@SW-User oh...enlighten us

Never mind about Trump, don't trust Putin. He is setting a trap for Trump regarding "removing the root causes" of the conflict, and Trump is about to walk right into it.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@SW-User I now trust neither Donald Trump nor Vladimir Putin.

ididntknow · 56-60, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout if I were Putin, I wouldn’t agree to a ceasefire, they can’t be trusted,
ididntknow · 56-60, M
Russia hasn’t agreed to it yet, Russia will want some guarantees, after all, Russia are winning, don’t forget, this is a proxy war between nato, America and the west, against Russia,
Convivial · 26-30, F
No he didn't🤣
I'll put this accomplishment of his up there next to the that great big beautiful wall Mexico is paying for😜
SW-User
@Convivial I'll argue that Trump has made things worse.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@SW-User that would be a very short argument
SW-User
No sign of a ceasefire yet.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@SW-User Let alone end of the war.
I will be surprised if Russia honors a ceasefire agreement considering they have zero history of ever doing that.

This post hasn't aged well, has it.

It's not what he promised before, which to permanently stop the war in a matter of days. He failed already.

@jshm2 i guess you're right. The account name seems similar but the way I see it. You been here for a while. Better hope you don't spam the feeds. Even though I don't care what you think in politics.
