This is New Zealand after a quake. Telephoto lens makes it more dramatic.

@ElwoodBlues This just magnifies the power beyond our capabilities!!

@ElwoodBlues just go over it real fast, jump the tracks, and it'll slide back onto them

Things like this humble people and make them realize that they are at the mercy of mother nature

Crazy 😔
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
That’s almost beyond belief!!
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Quimliqer I'm still seriously sceptical about this particulair picture.
@Kwek00 This appears to be same bend from different angle. Like the other, telephoto makes it more dramatic.

@ElwoodBlues Then it's quite amazing. Probably had to do with the fact that the steel is attached to those concrete blocks in so many places. Otherwise, I don't think you ever get a bend like that in this kind of situation.

That just seems unreal, partly because you would think if it moved that, then there would be more damage.

But maybe the loose piles of rocks helped that.
Wow. That is crazy. My grandfather worked the railroad so I have an idea of the amount of force required to do that.

Wow! That’s a tragic testament to the quality of the rail footings.

A good indication of the forces unleashed

Even worse is not only the loss of life, but destroyed cultural heritage of historical Antioch.
