British people, how many migrant boats have crossed to England from France in 2024, compared to 1066?

The Ship List of William the Conqueror, written 1067 x 1071, shows that his 14 leading Norman magnates owed service of 777 ships. Robert Wace, a Norman poet writing in the 12th century, put the number at 696.

As of 26 October 2024, 456 small boats are known to have made the crossing.
