It's possible. The US never forgets a past project it couldn't complete! 54 40, or Fight!, right?

Yes, taking British Columbia would be ok.
The rest of Canada you can keep... too cold. 🥶

I was unable to read that article as it seems to be an overseas subscription service.
However, I would answer the question by, No.
The idea of the USA subsuming Canada is merely one of Donald Trump's grandiose imperialist ambitions; and so far he has played those out by his attempt to control Iran, and seizure of Venezuela's oil-fields.
Alongside those we have his wanting Panama and Cuba, for no clear, logical reason other than American expansionism. Plus of course Greenland, but that so US firms can exploit its mineral reserves, not to help Greenland and Denmark but as with Venezuela, for taking by America.
Mr. Trump has only two years left as President, his abilities are fading, his support is fading even if support for the Republican Party is still strong. Any such take-over attempt would be a breach of NATO and of international law. I do not know how "popular" kidnapping foreign presidents and attacking Middle Eastern countries is among Americans, but even the most parochial and Right-wing of them are literally paying the price for these oil-based episodes.
There would likely be even less support for America to invade what is normally not just a neighbour but also a major ally and fellow NATO nation. Especially as the President has not, to my knowledge, explained why he wants to take it over.
Even if he tried, Trump's illegal, unplanned and ultimately doomed attempt to seize Iran has shown the world that America cannot merely take over other nations as its vassals. Yes, she did that to Venezuela. Venezuela is not Iran though. She is far weaker and poorer than Iran, not part of any military bloc, nowhere near any major military allies, and so far less able to defend herself. Even her oil is not particularly useful to America, by its natural properties.
Similarly with Cuba, which the USA has been steadily, deliberately impoverishing for years - but again Trump has given no logical explanation.
So I do not forecast the USA invading Canada, whatever Donald Trump and his bellicose War Secretary Peter Hegseth may say.

We came for the syrup and whisky and maybe some cookies.

If you mean mainland Canada, I don't see any chance of the US invading Canada...
If you mean some random Islands around Greenland or the Northwest Passage that America is attempting to claim, so America can claim the passage way is their right away, then I could see that happening. But tiny areas just so we can claim the sea passageway not big areas.

@sstronaut and you think the American military would stand for it?
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP I feel like that's the wrong question, because I don't think they would be asked to invade some huge populated island...
But some random rocks that stick above the surface that has no one living there...
Like Machias Seal Island and North Rock is disputed but no one lives there and most don't care...
If the military is ordered to go somewhere (including the Canadian military), they go there...

@AbbeyRhode That would make it easier for the US?
AbbeyRhode · F
@Nimbus True, but Carney is doing enough to hurt his people. Trump won't attack them.

No but funding dissent inside Canada could happen.
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@Munumbis It wouldn’t take that much these days.

No I don't. He would probably get away with some gunboat diplomacy, and he's crazy enough to do it.

Gibbon · 70-79, M
The fact this idiocy is news worthy makes it even more ridiculous. They can say what they want about Trump but Carney isn't the brightest light bulb in the room.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@beermeplease the only time I was in your country was niagra falls. When passport was required to cross the bridge on foot I stopped going.
beermeplease · M
@Gibbon i remember not needing a passport to cross our border. whether going north or south the customs agent just asked what's your nationality....we'd say either american or canadian and they took our word for it and welcomed us into the country....but 9/11 changed all that but that is understandable. but i miss those days.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@beermeplease Yes 9/11 put the brakes on many things. I only had to show my driver license as ID.

Carney is a histrionic a$$. THIS is what Nancy Pelosi used to do...throw a dramatic scene...so that the average person would believe it was real. Political drama is NOT real...but it CAN be expensive for the poor citizens who have to pay for it.

Nope! Stop believing the leftist propaganda.

Low to none but rather than do anything right it’s a distraction campaign by a post retirement politician to keep focus on something other than the treason being committed
