Holy COW!!! I've SEEN a snake that big once...but it was dead...floating white belly up in the Tri-State ditch behind my grandfather's house out in Nebraska!
I read the ABC article about this, and it seems that the snakes are desperately seeking water. I would NOT want to live in Townsville, that's for sure!!!
Mine unwanted guest in the loo was not a snake but a young rat. A real "drowned rat"! It had fallen into the toilet and drowned.
Luckily it had not found any of my food but had been rooting through a drawer of tea-towels, apparently trying to build a cosy nest there.
After burying the rodent and disinfecting the drawer, I found and sealed its entrance, a former tumble-dryer flue opening in the inner leaf of the cavity-wall.
