@whowasthatmaskedman Of course how well solar, etc. works for you fully depends on your power usage profile, and if it's possible that's great, but for the vast majority it would be difficult to change energy usage to make solar 'appear' profitable. Here in NSW energy grid operators now charge people to export too much power during the day, yet we now have the dumb situation of the fed gov pushing '3 free hours of power' with the carrot that you must have a smart meter which allows government, elec companies, or other entities (like your insurance once we get social credit scoring forced on us) controlling your use of power at home, turning your power 'off' at will, and dictating what devices/appliances (including EV's - they are just another 'appliance') you are allowed to use and when you can use (or charge) them.

@zonavar68 I accept all of that. All I can say is that here in Vic. I didnt aim to be off grid. The system capacity is about 2.5 KW. So I always have a bill. It just never gets to $100. That works for me..😷
