Solar energy is a joke!
Everyone knows it's a failure.

@Roundandroundwego Tell my tiny power bill that. My panels cover half to three quarter of my power bill, depending on the time of year. And paid for themselves in just over two years..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman That's good that you could afford to get an extensive solar setup. For those who can't justify or afford the cost, we find it difficult to see where the cost-benefit net-positive ratio is, but everyone's situation is different. Roof solar (maybe + batteries) is not practical for lots of homes, and most of those will not consider EV's as part of their overall energy perspective because they are also not cheap.

@Roundandroundwego One big flaw in the whole 'net zero' push is that to be 'truly' green, you must run your house *exclusively* from wind/solar transformed electricity, from water collected on your own property footprint, and if you own any number of EV's, those vehicles *must* charge *only* from your own wind/solar energy system with *no* grid electricity ever used. You need a *very big* land area to get enough solar or wind turbines (+ batteries probably) to run a full house, plus charge EV's, to never require grid power. This is very different to rural properties that often are fully off-grid and have lots of land area for solar and/or wind and/or water collection already. They have much of the necessary equipment in place so have been 'net zero' before the global elitists 'invented' the Cult.

Even *if* you run fully free from power and water (and gas) grids, where does all the equipment to set up and run those off-grid systems come from? Unless you manufacture it fully yourself on your own property from materials obtained from your own soil and geology and vegetation, you are *still* failing to be 'net zero'. 8-) These days, most of it is made in China. Pot Kettle Black. lol

@zonavar68 I agree. I wish it was cheaper. Some of the new schemes are almost free. But for renters, whats the point? I was challenging the point that solar power is a failure. Clearly it isnt. My power bill actually goes down in summer with the house A/C going full blast..😷

@zonavar68 Thats not so. I have a suburban dwelling friend in Melbourne who is running a permanent credit with the power company. Over a year, he uses less power than his rooftop panels produce. And this is not a tiny house. So it takes some heating and cooling and has no battery. The grid is his battery as he sees it..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Of course how well solar, etc. works for you fully depends on your power usage profile, and if it's possible that's great, but for the vast majority it would be difficult to change energy usage to make solar 'appear' profitable. Here in NSW energy grid operators now charge people to export too much power during the day, yet we now have the dumb situation of the fed gov pushing '3 free hours of power' with the carrot that you must have a smart meter which allows government, elec companies, or other entities (like your insurance once we get social credit scoring forced on us) controlling your use of power at home, turning your power 'off' at will, and dictating what devices/appliances (including EV's - they are just another 'appliance') you are allowed to use and when you can use (or charge) them.
@zonavar68 I live in a truck and I've got solar.

@zonavar68 I accept all of that. All I can say is that here in Vic. I didnt aim to be off grid. The system capacity is about 2.5 KW. So I always have a bill. It just never gets to $100. That works for me..😷
