There are establishment Republicans and then there are conservatives. Don't confuse the two.

I am interested to hear your definitions of both.
@4meAndyou The fundamental difference is that Establishment Republicans are primarily concerned with maintaining political power. They are attempting to restructure the Republican party in order to be more inclusive and get more votes. Traditionally, the Republican party advocated for a free society, religious liberties, limited role of government and fiscal responsibility. Those are conservative values. Those are the values that characterize American Conservatives. The Establishment Republicans that are in the Congress today, many of them have held seats for multiple terms - decades even. They have become complacent and apparently they've abandoned the notion of being accountable to their constituents.

Your definition of a conservative or traditional Republican sounds like a Libertarian.
