My dad just found a shilling from 1950 in the coins he's saved up throughout the years

What's it worth? Are we rich now?

Don't talk to me, I'm booking a one-way flight to somewhere where there's no food that hasn't been blessed by a Michelin star chef and I'm drafting my memoir titled "From Broke to Ballin': The two-shilling story."

Update: My financial advisor (Google) says a two shilling coin is only worth 10 pence but I think he's just jealous. #richlife #blessed #hustleculture #grind

At least I got excited for 2 seconds🫩

My mother had a bank note predating Canadian confederacyu, when it was called the Dominion of Canada. I wish I could find that.
@JimboSaturn apparently the coins just a year before this one had " Fid Def Ind Imp." on it which stands for "Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India" in Latin. which is interesting

@HijabaDabbaDoo I just read about that ! lol. It changed after Indian Independence
@JimboSaturn Yeah, 200 years of colonization deserves at least one shout out on a coin
I have a collection of virtually all coins I ever owned fron 1975 and prior because I'm weird and I figure someday I can give them to my great grandkids to make them rich or at least interesting.
@HijabaDabbaDoo tbh I don't even know where the collection is. I could find it. I know there are some wheat pennies in there, at least one of them is "silver".
@SinlessOnslaught have you ever seen the movie you wish? I'm suddenly reminded of that. Not that it revolves entirely on coin collections but it's a cute movie
@HijabaDabbaDoo I just watched the trailer, it does look cute

I love old coins, not for the dollar amount. But for the history they tell
HumanEarth · F
Like I'm big on American Civil War coins and older

@HumanEarth how did you get your hands on these?

Perhaps a mule coin would've changed your luck.
It's made of silver; so, value in silver? I dunno; ten pounds? Maybe? Not much.
