When I played the piano if I saw that many flats, I'd pick a new piece to play...

@bijouxbroussard wow, I never heard of that before. My neighbor,na woman, teaches piano. I wonder if she picks pieces for her male and female students for this?
bijouxbroussard · F
@samueltyler2 I don’t know. My teachers never told me "you can’t play this because you’re a girl", but when I played the waltzes one teacher worked with me on my fingering so that the ones with lots of octaves were easier to manage smoothly.

@bijouxbroussard so many things we never understood growing up.

Very beautiful indeed.
Do you like any of Ludovico Einaudi's works? This is one of my favorites by him.

@OverTheHill Very beautiful. 😊

@OverTheHill I just bought three of his books for the piano--a friend introduced me to him. I play mostly classical a little Broadway and 60s rock...but this is a whole new and exciting world!
OverTheHill · 61-69, M
@Docdon23 I hope that you enjoy playing his music.

What are you trying to do, class this place up a little? 😂
So much packed into 3 minutes - Beautiful themes, melodies and piano virtuosity - wow !

Yes it is a beautiful "tune." My band just started playing a medley from the TV series Victory at Sea, no idea why this post brought that there mind, except that I was into classical music when that show was popular. Both are very stirring.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard em, you embarrass me.
bijouxbroussard · F
@samueltyler2 Sorry, not my intention. I just think it’s really cool to be involved in lots of things.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard it is okay, we have been friends for years. You know my ins and outs as well as just about anyone. 🤭

WOW!! I love it! I play the piano and have been listening to classical music for many years. The slow beautiful melody in the middle of this piece is the most beautiful I have ever heard, right at the top of my all-time favorites!!

I like Rachmaninov. 👍

Oh,man I know this from a program my parents watched when I was a child..beautiful but with undercurrents of sadness
bookerdana · M
@bijouxbroussard This was much earlier than that..I was five...they usually only watched television on Fridays and most of the Classical music I know comes from cartoons and Fantasia😩
bijouxbroussard · F
@bookerdana Oh, okay. Why did I think you were one of the "youngsters" here ? But that movie definitely made a lot of people who hadn’t been classical fans aware of that piece of music.
bookerdana · M
@bijouxbroussard I guess b/c I'm IGNORANT...🤔 Still I usually Like classical when I hear it. I have a friend who is a musician and comes from a family of musicians and he wanted to go see Handel: Messiah. ...local HS production. I enjoyed it but he thought it it was all the Hallelujah Chorus and wanted to leave🫢

Well, this has been quite a musical day for me: starting with Herman's Hermits and transitioning to this ! 😄
It is incredibly beautiful. And the piano playing is exquisite.

Somewhere in time theme
bijouxbroussard · F
@Tastyfrzz That movie is how many in the U.S. became familiar with this music. But it was written much longer ago, in 1934. 🙂

@Tastyfrzz Yes, it’s from the movie. That was a beautiful score.
helenS · 36-40, F
Yes that part of op. 43 is
one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever.
It's perhaps even too beautiful.
