Jimmy Buffett

His death is hitting me a little harder than I ever could imagine. I met him a couple of times and got his autograph. I have his "Don't Stop the Carnival" movie poster. Saw him in concert many times. I didn't know he was sick so his death was a big surprise.

Loved his music even if it didn't make much sense.

We’re losing iconic musicians seemingly every day it seems. This was a little more personal for most of us. Because he was one of us. His concerts were events and everyone in attendance were friends with each other and him. Sad day musically and personally.

@akindheart He'd been in hospice there at least a week. His family brought in his dogs when he passed 🦮

@Slade how very sad. i didn't see much of his passing at the end. i guess he will be cremated?
Slade · 56-60, M
@akindheart He was a pagan so that makes sense

I’m so sorry love. His music is so fun to listen to.
akindheart · 61-69, F

@akindheart yes! You can’t listen to margaritaville without a drink!!!!!

@Lilred2289 Jimmy Buffett was great.... loved his music and his collaborations with other artists was great. He crossed generes and wrote some great stuff for other people. Wrote the opening song for Blake Shelton's bar.... Barmegeddon...lol.

Jimmy Buffett was a guy that could sing a crazy song and make anyone relax and chill for a while.... have a beer or whatever ya like and take a break from the hectic, crazy world that is around us. He will be missed by zillions and he left a legacy...... R.I.P. ... J.B...... I know there is a boat somewhere with you as Skipper!

My wife and I went to one of Houston concerts. Great fun! I have several of his CDs in my old truck and listen to him often. I also enjoy the video of a concert in Chicago from years ago. I will miss him.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@exexec he lived near me but in the rich section. i never saw him though. he was a great guy. went to many of his concerts and met him twice.
Mikla · 61-69, F
You and me both! He was always around. How fortunate for you that you met him. I think my husband has all his cds
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Mikla i went to his play down in the keys. he played this set and i was sitting in the front row and asked for his autograph. my son met his daughter. they were supposed to visit his New Orleans home but it fell through
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Trying to put my finger on why he was so appealing. I think it's the James Dean thing. Dean wasn't really an actor, he didn't act, he lived the roles he played. He didn't use a script written by someone else, but performed like he was living the role. Buffet was likewise just being himself, singing and playing his own music, his own songs, and enjoying himself with friends.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Heartlander he gave a life of escapism and everyone needs that. he was over the top silly and people bought into it. yet he lived really close to me in one of the stuffiest areas of the world. it was a mystery why he lived there
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@akindheart just knowing that he went to McGill in Mobile, was an altar boy says I knew him. McGill was run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, who also Stanislas in Bay St Louis, Catholic High in Baton Rouge and another bunch of schools in New Orleans and in the bayou lands. He and I lived parallel lives and probably had some of the same teachers and popped out of the same molds.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Heartlander that is fantastic. he became a billionaire too.
it was a sad day for music. RIP, Jimmy

He was young. Sometimes it hits us harder than we think.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@HannahSky he was really young at heart. i never equated death with him. he just filled a void in a lot of people's life and let people be silly which we all need to do...makes me sad.
