Question for conservatives who support the Florida parental rights bill

Given the language of the bill, how should a teacher answer a question from a first grade student about why Billy has two dads and no mom?

Does the teacher just say they can't talk about that? Is that the kind of censorship you really want in our schools?

Same way a teacher answers when a kid asks them if there’s a God
“I’m not allowed to answer that question .”

@Kwek00 hardly dude . Teachers can’t discuss sex or religion w young students .
At least not here in NYC.

@AthrillatheHunt Talking about moms and dads isn't talking about sex. Children and teachers have talked about heterosexual couples from a long time and this never was linked to "sex". A child from 7 years old, doesn't even think about sex when you are talking about momy or dady. But apperently a segment of our adult society can't dislocate the parents in a family relationship with sex.

Next to that... I really wonder if you think that using an analogy with religion here makes any sense. You are literally comparing a part of our material reality with some subjective notion about a religious deity that has no material proof going for it. Then there is also the fact that in schools diffrent sort of people come together. I don't think a devoted parent likes a teacher to educate their children in an orthodoxy that they don't believe in themselves, as an atheist likes to have an authority figure preach something that they can't proof. So yeah... I think it's a smart thing to keep the religious stuff out of the hands of teachers for all parties.

@AthrillatheHunt Asking teachers to not talk about a non-sexual phenomena that excists in their material world. And that is actually a reality for one of their fellow students. Is embaressing. And why is this being brought back from the dustbin of history? Because an intolerant authoritarian segment of religious people just can't live in a world where other people don't share the same value set that they do. So everything they don't like, has to become taboo again, because they are the constant victim of reality that just doesn't want to go back into the closet.
