I have a question: If California has rolling blackouts, and they are going to forbid the sale of gas powered vehicles....how in hell are they going to

evacuate in the event of fires or other disasters, such as earthquakes? Let's say you were forced to buy an electric car, and then forbidden to charge it because of the rolling blackouts? How would you get your family to safety? How would you save your kids?

@Riverman2 that said I did find it a bit scary that some hospitals lost all power during blackouts and they didn’t have a working back up supply. Their backup generators failed when they were needed. It’s always useful to have a backup plan but it’s even better to have a functional one.

I can agree with that. It’s so hard for me to see the levels of homelessness. I can’t imagine what it must be like to be in a tent or less at this moment in history. We definitely need to do more.

I guess you could look into a solar or wind charger for the car if you could afford it.

I call it liberal logic.
At this point 40% of the electricity is generate by coal and 40% by petroleum and 10% hydro and 10% renewable.
On top of that, the electric bill will be much more than their gas bill.

@JohnnySpot So sorry for you. HUGS!!! But if you do happen to live in California, you need to make your own careful arrangements to keep yourself safe. If you have to hoard gas for your generator and car, do it. Don't get trapped in a wildfire. Don't fry in the summer heat.

They gov't in Commiefornia can't even disguise the fact that they are intentionally creating an energy shortage. The gov't already controls the supply. And the claim the infrastructure can't handle the electricty demand currently. The solution?
Everyone buy an electric car...adding more demand on the system that can't handle it today.

This is a valid question. Although rare that rolling blackout would happen right in an area of fire at the exact moment thousands need to evacuate but it certainly is plausible especially if grid is damaged by fire itself.
I thought that Joe Biden signed something saying that ALL cars need to be electric by a certain date, not just California.

@REMsleep I believe I heard that it is going to be up to each state as to stopping sales of gas powered vehicles , which is more constitutional than federalizing it. So far 27 states are considering it.
