has christianity dwindled in the uk

i am a catholic christian and haven't been to church, well, since i was a kid, which was long ago...i'd like to attend a catholic mass again sometime soon, when i went long ago i used to love the atmosphere of church and seeing the regulars there and having a chat to them and afterwards, when i left church, my soul would feel cleansed.

Ah, religion, the opium of the masses.
@Thinkerbell Some would say, Lenin was overwhelmed by his circumstances.
Mao And STalin were just traditional dictators
Mao may have started With a philosophical agenda. Bree just became the emperor Stalin never had anything like that, he was always in Ever just somebody who wanted to be the Tzar

To the greatest extent no one has been able to set up a proper experiment
Using the ideas of communism. But communism, as initially was seen. Had the same floor that Adam Smith’s economy had. But neglected to understand that humans Will ever and always choose their personal welfare and prosperity over a collective. For Adam Smith? I offer the field of emotional economics. A worthy read. As far as Marx and Engles Lacked a lot of basic understanding of human nature which we have come to know. All of these things are 19 century ideas. Or earlier

@SatyrService

There's a saying in the physical sciences that if a theory doesn't work in practice, then it isn't a good theory.
Somehow that idea hasn't reached the soft sciences yet;
it's often claimed it's just that the theory has not been properly applied. 🙄
@Thinkerbell
Yes, but his solution was nonsense, as Lenin, Stalin, Mao et al amply proved.

Nice dodge.

I was replying to your offering the quote that

"It goes without saying that the artists sympathized not with the actual working classes but with their own idea of the working classes,”

If you've read Engels' bleak report, it makes it clear how the early Industrial Revolution in England wasn't working out very well for the laborers there in Manchester.

Why would you go to Catholic Mass for nostalgic purposes if you didn’t have a relationship with Jesus?
SW-User
@Pfuzylogic Are you assuming that your own discernment of the Holy Bible is definitive?
SW-User
@Pfuzylogic Sorry mate, this has to end. You appear to be turning into a carbon copy of the stern patriarchal idol you have discerned as being in charge of it all. That you seem to equate your own thoughts and judgements with that of the Source, the Creator, that you seem to have "made peace" with what are only your own concepts handed down to you by others.....well, sad. You can call this arrogance on my part. Please call it what you like - I have no regard for your judgements.

But I end it here. Respond to me how you wish. I will not respond again on this particular thread.

Sincerely, all the best.

Aren’t you full of insults today.
I see you have nothing to offer in rebuttal except to try and debug me.
Better luck next time and it doesn’t hurt to do your homework before an apologetic defense!

I state this as a warning that Jesus gave.
1 Corinthians 11:28-29
Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.

@Pfuzylogic you dont answer a question with another question. I asked you a multiple choice question. So answer my question please and thank you sir (or ma'am, or whatever non- binary pronoun you prefer.)

@Prisoner1972
Just because you ask me a question doesn’t mean i need to answer it in your way. Are you taking communion?

If so then heed the scripture.
@Prisoner1972 Whether or not you believe in transubstantiation--a word not used by Jesus, nor created until ca. the 13th century?-- @Pfuzylogic is offering a quote from a Pauline espistle...which is in the Bible and is given as a precursor to taking communion/participating in the Eucharist.

there's not many other places you can get sunlight pouring through that amount of stained glass 😌

Depends how you ask the question I think. If you were to ask how many believed they had Christian values, it looks to be around 40-60%.

But if you ask how many attend church, it drops significantly.

No doubt the UK is becoming increasingly irreligious.

A clue about Amida....

Out of compassion for the world. From the heart of the Bodhisattva Vow to not accept the fruits of salvation until every last sentient being is saved.

We tend to gravitate towards the Gods and deities we have faith in.
Depends.... old churches with liberal theology sure.

The church of my wife and I is only growing and parking is only becoming increasingly difficult.

In other Countries the underground Church is booming.

I'd go back. No matter what we consider has "dwindled".
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
So why did you stop going?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Don't think of it as Christianity dwindling. Think of it as people getting smarter.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Awwww. @Jstbanannas1991 didn't like my response.
