Jonah And The Whale

[media=https://youtu.be/Cv3tUDiiTGk?si=nlqqZdqZNfIvPU8W]

And some Scoffers say a person couldn't be swallowed by a whale this one took the man and his kayaking his mouth and then spit him out.

Others say a person couldn't live in the belly of a whale. Guess what the Bible didn't say it was a whale, the Bible said God created a big fish, meaning it was something new and temporary.

Heck, men's technology there are submarines, and all types of submersible crafts, as if God didn't know how and gave man that knowledge, to create something man could live in underwater.

I watched that yesterday! 👍

First, it seems you’re suggesting this man being swallowed by a whale is proof that the story of Jonah and the whale could have actually happened. Then you say the Bible doesn’t say it was a whale, but a “great fish.” So it couldn’t have been a whale anyway?

Which is it?
Charity · 56-60
@Ducky Emphasis should be on God "created, created, created, a great fish."

And the original written scriptures did not use the word whale. Interpreters decided it must have been a whale, once the name was given to the largest fish that man can locate in the locate, at some point in the 12th century.

The idea is to say that it is possible for a human to be swallowed by a large great fish, even without the assistance of God.

Since God created it, that makes whatever swallow Jonah something special, so Jonah could live in it, he survived in it, and he was put on land from it.

@Charity That doesn’t make any sense, but if you say so.
Charity · 56-60
@Ducky naturally it would not to you.

The sperm whale is big enough and has a large enough of esophagus to swallow a a human which means there is a fish out there big enough to do it and thousands of years ago the sperm whale could have been bigger and most likely definitely many more than we have today.

Our news went with "Pinokio"... but I guess someone had to make a comparisson with another fantasy epic. 😅
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Charity Sources for those reports are where exactly?

And you people just totally miss the points but that's fine go right ahead.

Not really... you say that there is proof of something. But you conflate "swallowing" and "taking something in his mouth". Then you say that people say something about a whale, and you post a story about a whale, ... but then you go on saying that the bible has nothing to do with a whale.

If this had nothing to do with the bible and your faith, and someone would use similair techniques to convince you, you would laugh in their faces. But when it comes to your God, you demean yourself by defending an unreasonable position, by being even more more unreasonable. That's the most fascinating thing to this post.
Charity · 56-60
@Kwek00 sir ma'am whichever, the proof is a person can be swallowed by a whale nothing more nothing less.

And why not go on to say that the Bible doesn't say it was a whale the Bible said that God created a big fish. Nothing in the statements are contradictory, simply pointing out the facts.

And no I haven't demeaned myself, there are people who are so negative minded they refuse to see what is written as it is written and read what ever they choose into it.

A sperm whale can swallow a human.

A regular whale can take a human into its mouth with the intent to swallow.

The Bible did not say it was a whale, it said God created a big fish. Which as I have said to others it means he made something entirely new for that purpose and that purpose alone.

And you tell me what I would do and think you don't know not one single thing about me.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Charity So... where are the receipts? Just don't keep saying stuff, proof your point.

And why not go on to say that the Bible doesn't say it was a whale the Bible said that God created a big fish. Nothing in the statements are contradictory, simply pointing out the facts.

You are pointing out that people talk about a whale, but the bible doesn't. Which makes all the whale talk obsolete, because you don't even agree with it. But you defend it anyway.

I know something about you... you are religous and you make bad arguments for your religon.

Toothed whales include sperm whales, beaked whales, killer whales, dolphins, and porpoises. These whales have teeth and actively hunt larger prey such as fish, squid, and sometimes even seals. Sperm whales, for instance, can dive to great depths to hunt giant squid. Their esophagus, although larger than that of baleen whales compared to their body size, is still incapable of swallowing a human whole. Killer whales sometimes prey on other marine mammals but there are no documented cases of them attacking humans in the wild to eat them.

[...]

So in the end, can whales eat and swallow us?

While there are anecdotal stories and rare instances of close encounters, the anatomical and behavioral characteristics of whales make it highly improbable for them to swallow a human whole and digest it. Baleen whales, with their filter-feeding mechanisms, do not possess a throat large enough to swallow large things like humans. Toothed whales have larger throats, but do not exhibit behavior that suggests they would see humans as prey, and their throats are still too small to swallow us whole. Most interactions between humans and whales are peaceful and often driven by mutual curiosity.

Some speculate that the whale that swallowed Jonah in the Bible was actually a USO (Unidentified Submerged Object). An underwater version of a UFO. Unlike Pinocchio and in tv where humongous sperm whales can easily swallow a human, it's very difficult for a whale to fully swallow a human being.
Charity · 56-60
@Barefooter25 the humpback can swallow.

But I agree with the UFO type submersible vehicle. And some could pass as whales, the cigar-shaped kind. Especially to the ancient people.
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
@Charity Whales, even the humpbacks don't have big teeth. They have large gum like tissues.

We may never know the real answer about Jonah and the whale. The only accounts we have is from the Bible in the Old Testament. But it is somewhat possible that Jonah was briefly abducted by an underwater UFO. Especially now that discoveries are being made that ancient aliens did visit Earth way back then.

@Barefooter25

Aliens / extraterrestrials defined as beings not of Earth or from Earth. The Bible is full of extraterrestrials from God and his creations to every angel, including the one called Satan, even Christ he said my kingdom is not of this world.
A whale’s throat isn’t large enough to swallow a person, and they wouldn’t survive long in the whale’s stomach anyway.

@LeopoldBloom

A sperm whale has a throat large enough to swallow a human. No documented cases but say it has never happened at some point in time.

We take the word swallow literally meaning putting in your mouth, down your esophagus, to your stomach.

But there are so many other ways the word swallow can be used saying one can put something in their mouth intending to pass it down there esophagus.

Swallow can mean to swallow one's pride.

Swallow can be used to mean an event is hard to swallow.

No nothing can survive in the belly of anything. As I try to indicate the Bible says God created, meaning at that particular point in time, God created a big fish, that swallowed Jonah. And whatever it was that God created Jonah could survive in.

It is to show even a whale can swallow "take a human in it's mouth" and it is possible for a whale to swallow a human even and I didn't say this if it is a whale that is rarely seen.
