What's your two cents on this?

One of the reasons I don't believe the Bible is 100 percent authentic is because it's hard to believe that the Earth was created and had light on it a day before the Sun was created. How could there be light without the Sun? Even if God is light, why would he have to say "let there be light" in order for there to be light, and where was the light coming from before he created the Sun? Did it start coming from God when he said that? I suppose this may be one of those, " doesn't make any sense or logical reasoning, but we must have faith it's true" kinda situations.

It's not a big issue for me. He's speaking the universe I to existence, He can do it how He wants. If His thought process is hard to understand, welcome to being a Christian lol. He's God, His thoughts aren't our thoughts.

@TexasDude so your answer is it is true because it's God and no matter what science and logic say God overrules it. Just like how God totally destroyed his most faithful servants life, making him wish death and curse his birth, only to prove a point to Satan. And as mean as that sounds, it was actually very good and righteous thing to do. Atleast he restored his servants health and power after toying with him

@Sweetguy024 Ok I don't know of I have the energy for this...

Honestly, why can't the God who spoke reality into existence override science? He made science. Plagues, the Red Sea, all of it...either taking control or overriding the laws of nature and science.

And seriously, Job has nothing to with discussion. I'll talk about him if you want but that feels so out of left field since this is about Creationism and not ethics

@TexasDude my original post was about why I feel the Bible was written by man and not to be taken literally. Because a lot of it doesn't make any sense, and the only way people do make sense of it is by saying that God can do anything and most what God does is beyond our understanding. In fact it doesn't make sense at all and is ridiculous when you look at it. Light without Sun is possible because God said so, doesn't seem possible to me. Sounds like it was written by man to explain our creation. Just like Job was written by man to explain why bad things happen to good people. I don't believe either of these cases are true stories just because they're in the Bible. They just don't make sense to me. I believe in God and in Jesus, but I find it hard to believe everything in the Bible is true. The idea of hell is insane to me, but people say it's good to allow people to be tortured forever cause they send themselves there by rejecting God. It's not that they see God, think he's real, but reject him because they don't care. They just hear these stories and how hard they are to believe, and that's that. Idk it's too hard to explain and we both have our different opinions and feelings on it, and that's ok to me. I just think about this stuff a lot and do like to hear others opinions.

@Sweetguy024 Actually it all makes sense. We can't understand everything but we're talking about God after all. And that's not a cop out. Why would we be able to fully understand God.

I highly recommend the "Case For..." Books by Lee Strobel. Or even looking him up on YouTube
Sweetguy024 · 36-40, M
@TexasDude thank you, I'll look it up. I do believe in God and I do believe he works in mysterious ways. I just wish he would have made it more understandable, cause more people would believe if he did. It almost feels like people have to prove to him that we don't deserve to go to hell(be tortured endlessly for ever and ever) which isn't an easy thing to do since his book is mysterious and Jesus even said the road to heaven is narrow and the road to hell is wide. And to me that's harsh. But like you said, we'll never understand God. That's not how it works.

@Sweetguy024
my original post was about why I feel the Bible was written by man and not to be taken literally.
If it was written by human beings then logically they would have had God making the Sun to create the light.. Not the light preceding the Sun as it is in Genesis..
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@Adstar good point
Sweetguy024 · 36-40, M
@Adstar I don't know, I wasn't there when they wrote it. Maybe not, if they didn't know that the Sun was the only source of light for the earth. Maybe they thought that God came first, made the light and than made the sun afterwards to govern the day and the moon the govern the night.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@Sweetguy024 And what if that is how it genuinely happened? Why are you putting limits on God?

Maybe He was the original light source. Maybe He did it this way on purpose as a symbol for how He is the true source and sustainer of everything? Just a thought but very possible
Sweetguy024 · 36-40, M
@TexasDude you never know, it might be. I'm not questioning God's existence or power. I'm just questioning the validity of the entire Bible. Some of it seems crazy. But you're right, God is more powerful than any of us can ever imagine
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@Sweetguy024 And yet it all can be reasonably explained. I honestly suggest the works of Lee Strobel to help understand more about the Bible. "The Case for Faith", for example, gives some great answers on big questions including Hell

@TexasDude thank you, I'll look it up later. I did look him up a little bit last night. Very intelligent man
