I think the story about jesus' life is so ironic because it basically reflects

certain people who take things very literally or they don't read for themselves. Or they get some kind of gratification from judging others.

The Pharisees didn't like Jesus NOT because Jesus was healing on the sabbath they didn't like Jesus because he told them that what they were doing was EVIL and against God. They were vain, and greedy among other things. And that is not what they wanted to hear.

They always hung around trying to get Jesus to slip up and say the wrong thing so they could hang him. And eventually, they got what they wanted and crucified Jesus in the end. WELL ultimately to their demise of course.

The whole of the Jewish leadership was looking for a way to get rid of this teacher of a new belief that was spreading like fire through out their people.
Jesus was teaching that man could gain access to the Almighty through believing in him .
Thus taking from them and their control and positions of power, and influence over the Jews.
Their elevated and inflated status, their opulent houses and wealth, their large land grants , that were given to them by the Roman Emperor Constantine in order to keep their people under control and accepting Roman rule as their fate from God, all of it was at risk of being stripped from them.

Jesus told the people that they had a line of communication directly to the heavenly father through praying on their own.
They no longer needed to go sacrifice and pay for prayers and waiting for instructions and blessings at the temple.
He took the tradition and dependence on Jewish leaders for their learning out of the mix almost overnight.

Freeing the followers of Jesus from not only their rule but as a consequence Rome's.

They had to take him out!

My pleasure to share knowledge and grow.

@PoeticPlay isnt that just how the leaders of any system of control act though? They demonise anyone who suggests doing things differently. I’ve been kicked off websites for merely explaining why I disagree with a rule, without breaking it

I always find it interesting that people who throw out Old Testament judgements forget that Jesus was the new covenant, he was God’s new promise. Jesus brought acceptance and a straight path to God for ALL.

And the fact that even after his works and ultimate sacrifice, his followers began to return to exclusion and judgement just shows how ignorant and selfish people can be.

@DeluxedEdition true it’s not black and white, it’s fifty shades of grey and I can teach you a little bit about that. ;)

But nah people make everything black and white these days, especially with politics. But no one group, idea or person is completely right or wrong

@pianoplayingsteve I believe, when we take away all the Bible philosophy and “experts” and truly read the story of Jesus. Love and acceptance of the love and acceptance of God is the true message.

@Pinkstarburst well said

I think the main problem with the Pharisees was pride.. They could not handle someone who they looked upon as being a religous loose cannon publicly pointing out their faults..

The proud no matter from those times or today cannot tolerate being corrected.. Image and the protection of their social status / public image is of the highest priority to the proud... The meek on the other hand do find correction uncomfortable, but they submit to it if it is valid / true..

Yes the pharisees where always looking to trap Jesus to manipulate Him into saying something wrong so as to undermine His authority and by doing so make themselves out to be more credible.. They wanted revenge on Jesus He exposed their corruption and faults to the populace..

And it seemed to them that they did get their revenge when they manipulated the Roman Authorities into executing Jesus.. They did not know that God had used their hatred to serve His greater purpose in obtaining Atonement for the sins of all who would believe and trust Jesus..

When you read about the birth of Jesus, remember that he is a bastard and you know what the bible says about them.

Wisdom 3:16-18 (CEB) = "16 The children of adulterers, however, will come to nothing. The seed of people who have sex with others in violation of the Law will dry up. 17 Even if they live to old age, their lives won’t amount to anything. In their old age they will have no honor. 18 If they die young, they will have no hope or comfort on Judgment Day. 19 The family line of those who don’t do what is right will come to a bad end."

Deuteronomy 23:2 (KJV) = "A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord."

Mary was an adulteress and she had Jesus as a result.

Hmm. I love and praise my Lord and Savior. What was ironic?

@DeluxedEdition what about the seven noahide laws?
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
He called out their hypocrisy.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@DeluxedEdition "you follow the letter of the law, but not the spirit of it"
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@JimboSaturn I think it was in vanity that they pretended to take the law so literally as well
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@DeluxedEdition It's easier to follow some stupid rules than to cultivate love in your heart.

You might want to cessate mocking the Christian religion. Your own epistemology isn’t solidly based in science or any other theory or sacred writings.

Jesus life can actually be seen as a metaphor for the phases a person goes through in their lives
