Cant really say, its all a mystery. Different people interpret it differently.

In the Bible the word "HEAVEN" symbolically represents a government, and the word "EARTH" symbolically represents stabilized human society. The word "SEA" symbolically represents restless, tumultuous mankind. The latter are the ones you see carrying picket signs, and protesting. (Isaiah 57:20).

When the Bible speaks about "A NEW HEAVEN" it is referring to God's heavenly based Kingdom/Government that will soon take full control over Earth's affairs to the benefit of obedient mankind and the literal natural earth. God's heavenly based Kingdom/Government or the "NEW HEAVEN", it itself will be a Theocracy, a universal Government with one set of laws, standards and principles for all mankind.

When the Bible speaks about "A NEW EARTH", it's referring to a new earthly society of mankind that will willingly worship and serve God His way, minus all the wickedness and suffering that we see today. The Bible says at Isaiah 11:9 - "They will not cause any harm or any ruin in all my holy mountain, because the EARTH 🌍🌎 will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters cover the sea.".

The "SEA" mentioned at Revelation 21:1 symbolically represents "wicked" mankind that will soon be destroyed during the Great Tribulation and Armageddon. (Isaiah 57:20).

God's Word gives us the answers through careful bible study, as does the Holy Spirit. In revelation, Jesus talks about in the end, the old heaven and the old Earth that we live on now shall pass away and the New Jerusalem which is the new heaven, shall come down to the new Earth that God will make that is without sin.

Everything will be renewed.. And we are not sure what sea will disappear.. It may be talking about a sea like the mediterranean or it might be talking about all oceans.. Then again the reference to sea might be symbolic of something else..

New Earth might be referring to an earth where perfect creation has been re-established by God.. After the final judgement all people will be transformed into perfect beings..

It is written plain - no interpretation needed.............. 2nd Peter 3:10 tells us that this heaven and Earth will burn and dissolve with fibrant heat and pass away with a great noise. This entire Milky Way galaxy that we call it or maybe this entire universe will cease to exist........................
John 14: 2-6 Jesus said in his Father's house are many mansions and he goes to prepare a place for us. His/our Father's house is not a extremely huge building with other buildings inside of it - it is the vastness of space with different what we call universes, take note that the Bible says heavens with an s there is more than one heaven.................... In Revelation 21 describes what Jesus has prepared for us where there will be no sun and no moon he will be the light of it.

Also in Isaiah 65: 17-19 of the creating of the new heaven and Earth and how nothing of this old heaven and Earth will be remembered.

He can wipe out our memories. And I do think he's done it before.
John saw a new heaven (was something wrong with the old heaven?) and earth, the old heaven and earth having been destroyed.

But the Jehovah's Witnesses say, contrary to this verse, that the earth will last forever and will never be destroyed. They have to say this because they believe that heaven filled to capacity (144,000) in 1935. The overflow crowd will stay here on earth.

@BlueSkyKing It can be said that a person who has a dramtic change in their life is a new person.. It does not mean their body had to die or be destroyed or that even their past personality had to be destroyed.. They have simply had a dramatic change and they are percieved as being a as a New person..

Same thing happens to countries.. In the past the USA was a series of colonies of Great britian with a monarch ruled from London.. but things changed so dramaticaly that a new independant nation was established.. But it had the same forrests the same rivers the same towns and farms and ports that it had before..

But the Jehovah's Witnesses say, contrary to this verse, that the earth will last forever and will never be destroyed.

The earth as it is now will be destroyed.. That does not mean the earth itself will be destroyed.. But ""forever"" thats an entirely different matter.. forever is time everlasting..

They have to say this because they believe that heaven filled to capacity (144,000) in 1935.

They where and are wrong.. That's one of the reasons they are considered a cult to most other Christian denominations.. if you read the account of Revelations on the 144,000 they are identified as Jewish innocents saved at the end times.. They are a separate special group.. Christians in the same chapter are called a multitude so large that no man could count them..

(Revelation 7:9) "After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;"

(Revelation 7:13-14) "And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? {14} And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."
