The same book says that eating shellfish (prawns, crayfish etc) is an abomination. It also says that people who wear clothing made from 2 different materials is an abomination.
Weirdly it also says that a man can sell his daughter into slavery.

@Wraithorn except that God did away with the shellfish and clothing laws for the New Testament, but homosexuality is reiterated as still a sin

@Murmurs beard trimming was specific to Israel and just they didn't mimic ancient pagan practices. Context is key to properply intetpreting the bible

@SpiritualMan Well that's odd considering that some people are born gay. I'm not gay myself but that's because I was lucky enough to not be born that way.

What you have to bear in mind is the logic and reasoning behind these guidelines, and specific to the time and culture. Take shellfish as one example. Can you think of a reason why more than 2000 years ago, in primitive (compared to modern day) conditions, with no refrigeration, in a very hot climate why there may be such a command as this? Does it make sense? Also, the word “abomination” can have a different meaning from that time to the present. Not all words translate to English very well. I’m not saying this is why, but I see so much knee jerk (and quite bigoted) reactions on this matter, it shows people who lack critical thinking skills. @Wraithorn
