Does God have a different set of morals unrecognizable to humans? But if he wrote morality on our hearts, shouldn't we recognize his acts as moral?

I find it to be a profoundly evil and immoral act for God to kill babies and order that they be killed and if we replace god in this scenario with a random dictator, not one single Christian would disagree with me.

So if as Christians tend to claim, morality comes from god and he wrote his morality on our hearts...why do many of his actions in the Bible seem so instinctively immoral?

If your view of God was wrong, would you want to know?
Pikachu ·
@DareDevil

I think it would be more a matter of convincing me that i was wrong rather than what most people do which is just preach. But yeah, i would.
DareDevil · 46-50, M
@Pikachu You mentioned that morality comes from God. Morals are subjective. What you call moral, someone may not. I contend that God is not moral, but holy.
Pikachu ·
@DareDevil

lol sorry if it wasn't made clear that the conceits of this premise are that
a) morality comes from god and
b) that morality is an objective standard.
What are you talking about, God killing babies? You could point to the scripture you're referring to. It would help.
@Diotrephes And whatever drugs you're on - they're not working.

Ok Suit. Yourself.
Better luck next time☺👋
@Pikachu Doubt it, Pik. You arrange it this way. Look at how you spoke to everyone here. It's too bad you commit to doing this to yourself.

The Bible is full of smiting and begatting... X rated for sure

@Convivial

lol yeah there are definitely some parts they don't teach you in sunday school

I haven't read the bible cover to cover but i do know it says god created man in his own image ,so doesn't that make god responsible for the sins of man?
kodiac · 26-30, M
@TheRascallyOne But if he made us like him we wouldn't make wrong choices. God made us good bad or otherwise but not in his image unless god is good bad or otherwise.
TheRascallyOne · 31-35, M
@kodiac he didn't make us like him. He make us in his image. if you had 2 children and they fought each other that doesn't mean you're a bad parent
kodiac · 26-30, M
@TheRascallyOne What does in his image mean? To me it means he made us exactly like him.
TheRascallyOne · 31-35, M
You're comprehension is not at Gods level. Honestly you should just actively try to be the best person you can
Pikachu ·
@TheRascallyOne

I agree that we should all try to be the best people we can be.
But do you have a more direct answer to the question? Because that was more of a little preach and some advice.

Don’t reduce God to one of us, or mock Him.
Pikachu ·
@peterlee

No actually i prefer thinking to meditating.

So you want to fall back on " Ain't dat lord great! For the bible tells me so!"

I want you to use your brain and the morality you believe that god gave to you to assess whether the actions and orders of god as described in that same bible you want to meditate on can be considered morally sound.

Well?
peterlee · M
@Pikachu We always disagree respectfully.

I often find you on a Christian forum. I’m glad you are still searching.

I’m glad you are still searching.

lol does it sound like the search is going well, bud? 🤣

What a polite way to avoid engaging thoughtfully.
I don't respect that.
