It would make sense to refer to the Creator (if there is one) as Female. After all, life comes from the Mother.

@deathfairy It would make sense, both logically and spiritually to me. :)

I don’t know and I don’t worry about it. My view of the Creator is that the answer could be male, female, both, none, other.
When and if we learn to follow the clear rules we were given, we can worry about the details, if they still matter.
In the common usage of the term Christian, I probably don’t qualify.

Jesus taught us how to pray and used the words "Our father"
saragoodtimes · F
male, says so in the song. Andy walked with me
justbob · 61-69, M
I don't think He needs one. If He does have one I have no way of knowing which it might be.
In English it has always been normal to use male pronouns when the sex is not known, so we refer to Him that way.

Female( I’m not a Christian) Christians aren’t the only ones that believe in God you know
Pfuzylogic · M
Most think of God as an elderly man as depicted by Michelangelo on the Sistine Chapel ceiling. There are a few unscriptural aspects of this painting which can be attributed to artistic license but in the second commandment it states that “ You shall not make a false image of me”. Michelangelo depicts God as a man, but that doesn’t mean it’s accurate.

@ItsMeMorgue This understand he was Catholic and I do know that he did not follow normal Catholic doctrine. He took an immense amount of unlicensed freedom with his art.

"He" refers to male, "she" refers to female. It's not complicated at all.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@RodneyTrotter1 also where is our mother?
RodneyTrotter1 · 100+, M
@Ferise1 Mine's in bed having a kip.

@RodneyTrotter1 seriously you don’t understand my question?

Male, as Jesus often refers to Him as His Father in heaven.

My understanding is that neither Supersoul nor Soul have a gender or even a specific form.

God is a spirit

God, being a Spirit, whom people believe in, has no sex. To allocate a sex is to anthropomorphise the being.
The Bible is a collection of numerous pieces of writing written in a strongly patriarchal society. The most prominent person in that Book is unsurprisingly allocated a male form.

@Zeusdelight Good reasoning

In every language with masculine feminine words our creator is given a masculine title. Women give birth but its a mans seed that produces life.
Alyosha · 36-40, M
It refers to God as "He" throughout the Bible and Koran.
meJess · F
If God made everything do you think such an entity has personal limitations?
RodneyTrotter1 · 100+, M
@meJess Not at all, God's a very clever bloke.
IM5688 · 70-79, M
According to Genesis, when God created Adam, He created Adam in His own image. Since Adam was a male, one can assume that God is also a male.
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
@IM5688 So does that mean God has a penis?
mossyboots · 51-55, F
The Bible refers to God as a 'He' and the angels are called 'sons of God'. Females were obviously made only for reproduction on earth. God being the father and head = male
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@mossyboots
why would God have a gender? It’s proof it’s man-made.

mossyboots · 51-55, F
@Ferise1 Because He refers to himself as a 'father'.to mankind but not in the physical sense because the Bible says he is a spirit. If he is the creator and refers to himself as a father, humans have an understanding of what a father is. That is why.

Why is this 'robot' question directed only at Christians? Does the SW robot have an agenda?

Glad to see someone ask a question like this.🤔 I've wondered many things about this 'robot'.🤔

Jesus was male God in flesh and Adam the first creation was male. The Father has no gender.
Pfuzylogic · M
@ItsMeMorgue I never said that God was a man. All that does is make an lesser image of God which is against the second commandment. God is so much more than that! I will concede that Abraham started a patriarchy.
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
@Pfuzylogic You said God was the father, which you defined as owner. At that time, I accused you of making up definitions.
For that, I apologize. I did a little bit of research, and it does turn out that it meant that at one point. But in a masculine sense. The owner of the house. The head. The father. (Or daddy, if that's what you're into. 😆)
The point is, calling God father does imply masculinity. We have Abraham to thank for that, as you already admitted. So I guess we need to come up with a better word.

@ItsMeMorgue I am totally comfortable with the term Father and I think you are attempting to assign gender to God when this assumption is nothing more than a trend of this last generation.
God does not change.
God made humans male and female.
God is the Creator and awesome to even think on.
