Most think of God as an elderly man as depicted by Michelangelo on the Sistine Chapel ceiling. There are a few unscriptural aspects of this painting which can be attributed to artistic license but in the second commandment it states that “ You shall not make a false image of me”. Michelangelo depicts God as a man, but that doesn’t mean it’s accurate.

@ItsMeMorgue This I understand, he was Catholic and I do know that he did not follow normal Catholic doctrine. He took an immense amount of unlicensed freedom with his art.

What he drew wasn’t biblically correct.
The sad thing is if persons don’t get Genesis right then they don’t understand the Bible.
It doesn’t make sense.

@Pfuzylogic However we may interpret its intent, there is actually no 'of me' in that commandment.

@Pfuzylogic Also, I don't know if you were aware of this theory, but there's a school of thought that says Michelangelo snuck in a painting of the human brain disguised as Adam and God touching fingers. Here's an article if you're interested: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13554794.2020.1813477#abstract

@ItsMeMorgue I did see that idea before.
Artists love to include a lot of mystery in. their work I can only imagine the hardship he went through in creating the work.

@Pfuzylogic he’s thought of that way bc when he revealed himself he used a masculine word form “I am him “
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@Pfuzylogic our creator literally introduced himself using his preferred pronouns. “Hi I’m God and I go by he/ him”. Lol

@AthrillatheHunt I am just clearing up some confusion on how people saw God and why. Adam wasn’t created by the touching of fingers as Michelangelo depicted either.
Pfuzylogic · M
@AthrillatheHunt Are you speaking of a conversation with Adam? I would be interested in the scripture.

@Pfuzylogic he told honest Abe he was Yahweh. That’s a masculine word in Hebrew , which is odd bc Judaism is woman based.
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
@AthrillatheHunt It's because Judaism evolved from a polytheistic religion, with gods and goddesses. They don't like to talk about it these days, because the Yahweh critter describes himself as jealous.

@ItsMeMorgue that explains rule #2 haha

@AthrillatheHunt I am reserved about looking at masculine or feminine form of a word. I do see a patriarchy with Abraham though.

Abraham came from Sumeria but God asked him to leave. There was a relationship between Abraham and God based on Faith and trust. That which came from Abraham was neither polytheistic or woman based.
Judaism is a direct result of Abraham and is detailed in the Old Testament or the Torah.
It isn’t that complicated.

@Pfuzylogic While it's true that the tradition founded by Abraham was not polytheistic, that is not what I'm talking about. Nor was Judaism created by Abraham. It evolved from the earlier Canaanite religion. Yahweh as the Hebrews defined him was a combination of El, the head of the Canaanite pantheon, and Yahweh, God of the forge. It's even been speculated that Yahweh was a merging of two gods, Yah and Weh.
