It's either that, or he really wasn't the son of God as he claimed.
I subscribe to the swoon theory, personally. I feel there's enough circumstantial evidence in the official version of the story to suggest that he was drugged into unconsciousness, and the Roman who tested to see if he was dead didn't understand enough about human anatomy to realize he was poking a still-alive person with a stick.
