Do you think it evil?

To ask God to hurt those who willingly hurt you?

That’s how I’m feeling right now. I want my enemies to hurt in the same manner they are trying to hurt me. I’m pretty sure this is against my religeon.

I need someone who always takes the high road against his/her enemies to help me understand.

Jesus requires us to love our enemies and pray for those who despitefully use us, then he will take revenge on our behalf. He says, "Mine is the vengeance"

Yes.. As a Christian it goes against the expressed will of the LORD Jesus... It's very much a human kneejerk reaction.. Better to love even your enemies.. That hands them over to God for judgement..

The Gospel of The LORD Jesus is about offering all people forgiveness for their transgressions so that God can save as many people as possible from ending up in the eternal lake of fire.. I am sure you would agree that no matter how badly that person has hurt you that them spending forever and ever in the Eternal lake of fire is far far worse for them then the pain they caused you??? This offer for the total forgiveness of sins is also extended to you so that all your evil deeds will be forgiven also if you Believe in the teachings of Jesus and trust that His atonement covers all your sins..

There actually prayers in the Bible of people asking God to have their enemies caught in their own snares they had set for them.

When the unrighteous plot to cause harm to the righteous, may that very harm be upon the unrighteous.

@Iwillwait who among us is perfect? No one.
Iwillwait · M
@Foreverconfused correct.
Psalm 141:10 ►

Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety

No. Just forgive them.

Now if it some freak maniac trying to attack you for whatever reason or no reasons at all. If you can't reason with them right away. You have the right to defend yourself and fight back.

@Foreverconfused The biblical God was simply the series of emperors, chief priests, and kings who ruled the ancient dominant Middle Eastern empires. There is no celestial deity of any kind in this solar system. One or two was less crazy than the other ones but they were all clinically insane.
Foreverconfused · 56-60, F
@Diotrephes I understand your pov
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
God isn’t going to do that because that’s vindictive and technically “wrath”

You are supposed to let it go. Pray and ask God To give you the strength to forgive them
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Diotrephes evil is the enemy of God. I thought we all knew that by now

What are you even saying

If God is upset at having evil as his enemy, why did the idiot create it in the first place?

Isaiah 45:7 (KJV) = I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

Who has evil spirits, God or the devil?
1 Samuel 16:14-23 (CEB) =

14 Now the Lord’s spirit had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him. 15 Saul’s servants said to him, “Look, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you. 16 If our master just says the word, your servants will search for someone who knows how to play the lyre. The musician can play whenever the evil spirit from God is affecting you, and then you’ll feel better.”

17 Saul said to his servants, “Find me a good musician and bring him to me.”

18 One of the servants responded, “I know that one of Jesse’s sons from Bethlehem is a good musician. He’s a strong man and heroic, a warrior who speaks well and is good-looking too. The Lord is with him.”

19 So Saul sent messengers to Jesse to say, “Send me your son David, the one who keeps the sheep.”

20 Jesse then took a donkey and loaded it with a homer of bread,[d] a jar of wine, and a young goat, and he sent it along with his son David to Saul. 21 That is how David came to Saul and entered his service. Saul liked David very much,[e] and David became his armor-bearer. 22 Saul sent a message to Jesse: “Please allow David to remain in my service because I am pleased with him.” 23 Whenever the evil spirit from God affected Saul, David would take the lyre and play it. Then Saul would relax and feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him alone.

1 Samuel 19:9 (CEB) =" 9 Then an evil spirit from the Lord came over Saul.[a] He was sitting in his house with his spear in hand while David was playing music."

@Diotrephes god never created evil. God created man and gave man free will. And with that free will man made the conscious choice to choose to sin. That would be like accusing gun/knife manufacturers of being murderers.

Evil has to exist in order for good to exist and vice versa. The darkness has to exist in order for the light to be the light

And not you taking individual Bible verses out of context in an attempt to give me your misinterpretation. I can take anything out of context and make it mean whatever I want. Post the entire chapter or don’t post anything. But you won’t do that because the actual meaning that was portrayed would be exposed as would your ignorance on the subject

Such concerns as you are expressing indicate that you have never analyzed the New Testament. There are numerous passages in it that give people actual super powers if they have faith. For instance, a believer can drink poison, handle deadly snakes, heal the sick by merely touching them, speak in tongues, cast out demons, toss trees and mountains into the sea by just commanding them, walk on water barefooted, etc.

So, with all of those superpowers why are you incapable of using them to perform activities that will lead to a rapprochement with the people you are having difficulties with?

Imagine if you were to learn that one of your adversaries was sick and you went to the person and instanly healed him/her with your gentle touch. Or if you commanded the person to fly through the air, say to the roof top of the house, and it happened. Would the person continue to be your enemy?

If you are really a believer and have faith, you have those powers so use them to restore peace and harmony with your adversaries and enjoy a life of friendship with them instead of bitter animosity.
Praying is akin to spell casting. Magic is a big turn off in my opinion.

@BlueSkyKing I respect your opinion.

maybe u should rephrase it like " oh God pls hurt them so badly so that they will learn"

The Bible tells us that the plots of the wicked will return upon their own heads.

As it says in Psalm 7:14-16:

“Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity; yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood. He made a pit and dug it out, and has fallen into the ditch which he made. His trouble shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown.”
gregloa · 61-69, M
Jesus said forgive your enemies.

It's mostly a "lazy" attitude. It's better to understand the mechanism that led them to hurt you, so that you're better prepared to fight back. And if harm was committed, it could be that the human world provides for ways to get retributed or vindicated.
Iwillwait · M
As Galatians 6:7-8 tells us:

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

That's a good point because Jesus had been convicted of a capital crime in a legal court.

Evil is a strong word, but I think it goes against it yeah

Ask yourself this. Did God know what your enemies would do to you? Could he have prevented it?

Why did he choose not to?
Foreverconfused · 56-60, F
Your right. I deserve this@LordShadowfire
LordShadowfire · 46-50
@Foreverconfused I didn't say that. What I'm asking is, what kind of God would allow you to be tortured by those people? He is either indifferent, impotent, or evil.
Foreverconfused · 56-60, F
@LordShadowfire I think none of those things about God, but I understand you must not believe, and that’s okay. I prefer to be loving and caring if that is what is right
