Can you give me a method to change myself so that I will be able to do this?

"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. New King James Version And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment."

All the mind, for instance. Many can't control the mind enough to use all of it constantly to love God. Many of us find ourselves thinking of things in this world rather than of God. God evidently forgives this, for we are also told that God is mercy. But this quote and others tell of this hurdle to be managed, and I have not heard any Bible expert point out a path to this state. Of course, there is the hope of it happening in the afterlife, but if it's to happen automatically after we die, provided we follow lesser rules, why do the disciples bother to direct us to love God in this way -- to this extent?
When it comes to spirituality, that term doesn't mean all who are "spiritual" know God, or even have anything to do with Him. That would be like saying, all who go to the zoo are monkeys. It doesn't work that way. Likewise, not all who go to church, are born-again believers, as the bible calls those dedicated to God. Some know OF Him, yet that doesn't mean they have a relationship with Him, and that is what salvation is all about, is what Jesus said in His Word. It is also not about what church one attends, nor their service or tithes, that constitutes salvation according to God's standards for salvation. It is not about the religions of this world. It is about committed relationship with God. That is what He said in His Word. And we are certainly not expected to be perfect NOR can we earn our way to heaven by doing "good", as Jesus said we are saved by grace, when we believe in God, what He said, and trust Him to keep His Word. What is the definition of grace? It is UN-EARNED favor from God. He is trust-WORTHY. Christ died for the world. Not just certain denominations. And NEVER for "certain churches", as some false teachers would have others believe, leading them astray by their cultist, unbiblical teachings.

Christ was simply telling us that if we want peace of mind and joy, then focus on those things of God, rather than the crazy people and troubles of this world. What brings true peace and joy, does not take hard work, but better choices. It is the Holy Spirit that brings our Spirit peace and great joy that passes all understanding...when we pray and fellowship with God, read and study His Word, ask for His strength and guidance each day, do service for Him, spend time with Him as our best friend, and love and help others.

God's recipe for true happiness, joy, and peace of mind? Simple. Focus on those things of the Lord.

See what God said? Who's mind stays in PERFECT PEACE? Those whose mind is stayed on Him. He's not talking 24/7. He's just saying the more you abide in Me, the happier and more peaceful your mind and heart will be.

Honestly the fact you even ask this is grounds enough for caring as you are interested in knowing and do not appear to be presuming yourself to be so high and mighty. Think of all the people you have loved who have loved you back and simply let yourself feel that love. If there is some higher power you worship or are grateful to, or you are simply grateful that you had them in your life...what more can any high and mighty omnipotent being ask for?

They can't expect you to not live and just hold yourself hostage to their arbitrary whims. You need to live, to enjoy life. Relax. Take some advice from the Eagles, and take it easy. 🌹😊

@SW-User How thoughtful. And, in my not-so-humble opinion, it's very good advice. Actually, if I am in danger of being sad, I look to my heart to soak in the love there. I rely on two quotes "God is love," and "God is within," and I find the within to be the heart. Naturally I think of Hubby's kindness and forgiveness and thoughtfulness, very often, but when something comes up threatening my peace of mind, I go into That Love in the heart. Better than ANY memories -- even Hubby's unfailing love. He was a sweetie.

However, I am already giving way to your advice -- by having up his high school graduation picture, rather than a recent one. Speaks to me more of the years between. Peace.

The standards of a Perfect God are very High, aren't they ???

But what was the point of God revealing His standards to mankind ???

Was it out of a demand for mankind to perform up to these Standards???

Standards that imperfect beings like us can never attain???

Or was it to let us know we can never perform up to the perfect standards of God?? The Standards given to convince our minds that we fall short of the Standards??

What does the Standards do then.. Make us feel hopeless? Make us feel we are doomed to fail? Well YES...

If we know we cannot attain the standards we are then open to The Way God has made for us to have eternal reconciliation with God.. Through being justly forgiven all our failings...

If one believes in the Standards of God, If one loves the standards of God, If they agree with the will of God.. Then that is called being righteous in Spirit.. Having the right attitude the right Spirit buts us in the right place to justify God forgiving us for being unable to perform to His standards.. Believing God and trusting God can be achieved by faulty human beings.. Believing in His standards and trusting in the Atonement of the LORD Jesus who paid the penalty for all our failings..

Gods Law reveals our Problem..
Gods Atonement reveals God solution to our problem..

@Adstar Lol. Of course. I didn't mean anything by that. May I wish you ever more?

@Nelladell And i hope you are granted that peace too.. 💛

@Adstar Thank you.

I think if we set our hearts on pursuing this goal, albeit imperfectly, and sometimes horribly, the rest of the commandments fall into place.

Augustine famously said, "Love, then do as you will."

I have always found that Biblical commandment to be reinvigorating, offering me a fresh start.

@DrWatson Thanks for the lovely comment.

The Dalai Lama calls his mind a chattering monkey.

He has practised all his life to stop it chattering, he hasn't given up:)

Kahil Gibran had the idea of us as Onions trying to remove one leaf at a time until we get to our real essence - hopefully not the essence of a real onion:)

For me, if we are temples of the Holy Spirit, it would seem that unveiling the onion leaves of ourselves to get closer to our true selves would seem to be a way to get to know and Love God.
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@Zeusdelight I think two places and I think I remember one, but will have to check. Hang on. I will take a look around.
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@Zeusdelight here's one I just found, but it's not what I saw before. https://ugetube.com/watch/%E9%81%94%E8%B3%B4%E5%9D%90%E7%89%A2-dalai-lama-arrested-after-assaulting-a-photographer_d1qRkMtdahXRmIF.html

For a few years Ben Fulford who was, for years, Forbes' Asia journalistc, has been reporting serious nefarious deeds by the Dalai Lama. But the above is just drunken misbehavior, it seems -- if true. And, if true, it seems to me that he could not be a true Dalai Lama, but perhaps a replacement picked by the Chinese when they took over China. Dunno. Am still curious.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Nelladell Looked like a very suspect story. I then realise it was from a website run by the Utah Gun Exchange. It would seem to me not a very reliable service for news.

Fulford did write for Forbes, sometime before 2008, but now writes for, amongst other things, https://conspiracydailyupdate.com/category/benjamin-fulford/ and has publicly stated he wants to save the world. He has also been quoted as saying the Dalia Lama is satanic.

Have you any other sources?

Just do the best you can, God knows we're only human and born to make mistakes.💫The bible was written in a time we don't live in anymore, that's why it's so hard to understand. It needs to be "updated." 🤭😇💓
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@Peaches Ah. Okay.

Pray more and over anything (good or bad, important or insignificant), and see where it goes.
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@SW-User Thank you. I have always wondered if this is part of practicing the presence.

Try a full frontal lobotomy.
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@DocSavage Lol. I understand what you mean. At least, I hope so.
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@Zeusdelight Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I am certainly not going to write Fulford off. He has, indeed, said that he is fighting to save our planet, and I find no fault in that.

The fact that the is naming lots and lots of names of people in high places would be expected to draw lots and lots of criticism. Of course. But I think it would be interesting to see the folks he has named as murderers and satanists sue him, forcing him to present his evidence in court.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Nelladell If they sued one, they'd have to sue them all. The expense would send them broke.

Too many times on the internet I see posts throwing muck at people with little or no evidence and then saying things like do your own research.

Well, I have done my research and do not believe what this gentleman says. Anyone can say anything, as he has done, but I have not seen any evidence that he has provided.

Certainly, none of it comes from any compassion, understanding or care that you would hope is reflected in the work of anyone who wants to love the Lord your God.
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@Zeusdelight Not sure I follow you on court costs. Am suppolsing that would be decided in court. You could be right. And you could be wrong. At any rate, thank you for your compassion.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Nelladell The legal fees of taking anyone to court on such matters stops people sueing. Then the court costs add another barrier.

The legal fees are determined between the lawyer and client. Having worked in the area for many years, I know that is correct.
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@Zeusdelight And yet, as I understand it, courts are busy with suits. \

You could be right, though the first three sources I found (I stopped there) say that usually the loser pays the costs of the winner in civil matters -- whatever court decides about both court costs and attorney fees, in case it has not been decided in advance between the two parties, as you said. So a wronged party without deep pockets would want to be pretty sure there was no evidence of the type Fulford claims to have. You could be right. He might not have any --

It is the human condition. Like King David said "what I want to do I don't do, and what I don't want to do I keep doing." We are battling our sinful bodies even if we have been saved spiritually. We will have saved bodies in heaven one day. Just read your Bible every morning and be thankful throughout the day.🙂
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@Carazaa Thank you. That made me think of something my beloved mother-in-law said to me years ago. She was unhappy that I was reading stuff about Hinduism and Buddhism and the Dead Sea scrolls and the Nag Hammadi discoveries. Maybe the correct word is indignant, for she told me, loudly "LOOK! YOU ARE SAVED AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!"

I grieved more at losing her than anyone ever, except Hubby. She was a wonderful mom. She cared.

ALL THING TAKE PRATICE. never too old to learn
This is religious ocd. It is impossible to control the mind.
Nelladell · 80-89, F
@canusernamebemyusername Thank you. I understand your second sentence. Is the first saying that it is religious, therefore -- to be ignored? Am not trying to be argumentative -- am trying to understand what you mean. Thanks again.
