Can you give me a method to change myself so that I will be able to do this?

"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. New King James Version And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment."

All the mind, for instance. Many can't control the mind enough to use all of it constantly to love God. Many of us find ourselves thinking of things in this world rather than of God. God evidently forgives this, for we are also told that God is mercy. But this quote and others tell of this hurdle to be managed, and I have not heard any Bible expert point out a path to this state. Of course, there is the hope of it happening in the afterlife, but if it's to happen automatically after we die, provided we follow lesser rules, why do the disciples bother to direct us to love God in this way -- to this extent?

The standards of a Perfect God are very High, aren't they ???

But what was the point of God revealing His standards to mankind ???

Was it out of a demand for mankind to perform up to these Standards???

Standards that imperfect beings like us can never attain???

Or was it to let us know we can never perform up to the perfect standards of God?? The Standards given to convince our minds that we fall short of the Standards??

What does the Standards do then.. Make us feel hopeless? Make us feel we are doomed to fail? Well YES...

If we know we cannot attain the standards we are then open to The Way God has made for us to have eternal reconciliation with God.. Through being justly forgiven all our failings...

If one believes in the Standards of God, If one loves the standards of God, If they agree with the will of God.. Then that is called being righteous in Spirit.. Having the right attitude the right Spirit buts us in the right place to justify God forgiving us for being unable to perform to His standards.. Believing God and trusting God can be achieved by faulty human beings.. Believing in His standards and trusting in the Atonement of the LORD Jesus who paid the penalty for all our failings..

Gods Law reveals our Problem..
Gods Atonement reveals God solution to our problem..

@Adstar Thank you so much for this. Looking around, I find that yours seems to be a VERY popular explanation.

As I was reading it, the phrase, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" came tp mind. Then this: "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do --"

I have to throw out those words in order to think that we were not meant to strive for what they demand. And, since I agree with you that God will not ask for something we can't do, the question comes of itself -- how? What am I missing?

The story of how Reiki lately came into usage is important here. It's goes pretty much like this very shortened version:

The students of a teacher of spiritual matters brought up the question of why we can't heal as Jesus did, since we are told to do as He did. The teacher realized their question had validity and traveled all over asking. For quite a wile, as I recall. He finally was given the answer in a fairly miraculous way and came back to spread the knowledge of Reiki.

This perhaps will be more meaningful to me than to you because I underwent the steps necessary to use Reiki and was "miraculously" changed so that I was able to experience actual healings through Reiki. In other words, I know that the so-called imposlsible can happen. And I choose to conduct myself as if Jesus really said what he meant and as if God won't expect more of us than we can do, just as you said.

Again, thank you. Your comments are appreciated.

Of course we are supposed to strive to do our very best to live up to the standards of God.. We show we love His Word by striving to do His Word.. But can we do it without fault or failure? Nope.. Not in this world in these faulty bodies.. But through the power of the Holy Spirit we can perform up to His standards some of the time when He wills for us to do so..

Also A day will come when those that believeth on Jesus will do Greater Works then Jesus did on earth.. When we enter into eternity and we are transformed into the perfect beings we have yearned to be.. So Jesus was not telling lies.. So you don't have to throw out those words.. You just have to realize Jesus never said WHEN they would be able to do greater works them Him..

Also if you read the stories of the apostles and what they did as they shared the gospel with the gentiles they did many of the works Jesus did with the Jews.. Also i have done Works too.. Even though i consider myself a very poor example of a Christian.. And thats not false modesty.. For real i am a very poor excuse for a Christian..

As for Reiki.. I will not touch it.. It does not have it's origin with Jesus but with Buddhism there is a danger that Reiki uses spirits not from God.. So inviting them in could well mean eventual possession by unclean spirits..

For me it is safer to rely on the will of God and if God wills for me to heal someone then His will shall be done.. If not then so be it..
