What do you think of the Book of Mormons and Joseph Smith?

Eternity · 26-30, M
Dum dum dum dum duuuum!
@robingoodfellow What does that mean?
@PoetryNEmotion it's a reference to a South Park episode
@robingoodfellow I don't watch them. My son does.

I think that what credibility did Joseph Schmitt (I thought that’s what did name was) to proclaim that he was a prophet? And why did people believe him?

I think a man lied because the lie benefitted him and people went along with it
SirBenedictTheSecond · 22-25, M
@DeluxedEdition So many people have believed false prophets 🥺

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I heard it advertised here a while back, I don’t know if they ever had it yet, maybe selling tickets.
@cherokeepatti I fully recommend..
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Nope it’s January 13-15in Oklahoma City…5 shows total. I don’t know if I want to see it. I see two guys in white shirts, black ties, black pants riding bikes around the neighborhood and I go inside and lock my door.

It's unfortunate that Joseph Smith wasn't born 50-100 years earlier, in which case, no one would have ever heard of him, because he'd have been burnt at the stake as a witch... 🤔

An interesting read and some fine art work. But I believe it belongs in the fiction section over at the library. Now the Amish, there's a hard working bunch. They park on the side of the road in our rural areas selling their hand made products I'd like to have.
walabby · 70-79, M
@PatKirby From what I've heard, the Amish are their own brand of crazy!

@walabby

Yeah I know, I know. But I spent some time with an Amish husband and wife at a car dealership I worked at and I found them respectful, warm and forthcoming. Should've tried out some of their pie.
I once dated a Mormon. It was when I was 19. They really believe that Joseph Smith was their saviour. I am spiritual. Bibles are written by man for men.

@PoetryNEmotion I went to the bowling alley with a friend one time after I graduated high school, watched her play for her league. This Mormon lady from Utah was visiting and watching a relative also play in the league. Anyway she struck up a chat and decided she liked me enough to introduce me to her son. I thought that was a bit odd but didn’t say it and never saw her again. Maybe she thought I’d come back to the bowling alley and bring it up again with me…nope not me.
@cherokeepatti I am under the impression that they do not like outsiders.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@PoetryNEmotion they recruit strangers, they don’t like non-conformity. Try to dictate to their standards.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
All bullshit.

Like any religious texts there are some interesting and not bad ideas, but also some really garbage ones.

I was raised by an ex-mo and a lapsed Catholic. lol
Waiting for the movie
