They are more about civil engineering of infrastructure needs for defense and in battle zones. Second, I presume that is why you mention taking over manufacturers by eminent domain. With the exception of NASA and the Dept. of Agriculture, government has a terrible record when it comes to innovation let alone keeping up with the advances others make in technology or science. Advancing military technology is a way to fund R&D research that leads to later consumer products for these companies, and that is true of NASA as well.

That said, something needs to be done to reign in their continual efforts to arm every country -- and every individual when you throw in the gun manufacturers controlling NRA . Our government not only is doing little to preclude that, it is actually egging them on by being a marketing tool for them in our gunboat diplomacy.
