Mr. Trump said "We are locked and loaded," but after almost a week, the US has not replied militarily to Iran's supposed attack on Saudi Arabia. Is Trump reluctant to pull the trigger?
Thank God, the U.S. have not attacked Iran. Another Middle East war is the last thing the U.S. needs. Apart from the facts that a) Congress would have to decleare war and vote to authorise the president to conduct a war and b) Saudi Arabia is not a treaty ally of the U.S., the U.S. has no obligation to defend Saudi Arabia and c) there is no proof that Iran actually did - as said apart from these facts - a war would mean that the oil export from the Gulf would come to a stop, the instracture of Saudi Arabia and the UAE would be destroyed, especially the destruction of seawater desalination plants would have horrible consequences, and finally a war against Iran would mean huge losses in both blood and treasure.
That war could cost the U.S. thousands of casualties and probably a trillion in dollars.
Are these enough reasons for you not to go to war?
Maybe he’s waiting for Robert O’Brien to make a decision. 🤷♀️
But I can tell you that he’s already called off planned attacks against Iran. Remember that time when he changed his mind 10 minutes before the planes were in the air because a strike would result in 150 casualties?
well for God's sake we should be thankful he is ever reluctant to pull the trigger. 🤐 me personally. i dont think i am qualified for such decisions. i leave it to our president and his chiefs of military or whatever to have an opinion or whatever on this one. what happened again anyway?
@Mugin16 Very true. But they spend money on many of the little things that help a military win. They put money and resources into training and intelligence too.
@quitwhendone But their soldiers and officers are not good. The best weapon system is useless when the people "operating" it are not up to the task. Saudi Arabia has the third biggest defence spending in the world and it still needs the U.S. to defend it. That tells you everything you need to know.
@Mugin16 I think they are quite capable. They get a lot of US training. They just don't want to spill Saudi blood. They aren't doing so well in their incursion into Yemen but I think they'd do well defending their homeland.
I think their pilots would do well in combat against Iran. Saudi planes and pilots have flown in formation with US and Coalition air forces in Operation Inherent Resolve and acquited themselves well.
I don't think the Saudis lack the ability to fight; I think they lack the desire to fight unless they are challenged on their own soil. Now, I admit, I am not an expert. My opinion is formulated from published information about the structure, philosophy, and inventory of their military, expert analyses of their performance in battle and published news reports about their military and it's recent actions.
@SteelHands Yeah, this country has a history of 'kissing the devil's ass' when it is expedient. It's just the way of global politics. If I were commander in chief, I would have to kiss the devils ass from time to time too. It is childish idealism to think it can be avoided.
Let's be honest, Vietnam didn't go too well, Iraq...a total fuck up... Afghanistan... Still there 17 years later with nothing to show but a big profit for the arms industry.... And Saudi...I think they bought it on themselves
He hasn’t thought of a good enough way to hide America’s involvement yet. Precision drone strike by Iran? Really? US has that capability and a crazy, greedy, conniving, super dangerous president. 🤔
