Some people live, eat, sleep, and dream their workplace.
I get it…
But in the end, you’ll be replaced and forgotten.
Theres so much more to life

@LunarOrbit That is so true my friend. My brother never realizes this

@JimboSaturn I did about halfway thru my career. My coworker was the most dedicated employee I’ve ever known. A brilliant millwright and diverse knowledge in all avenues of trades.
Then one day he got killed in a motorcycle accident (50 yrs old).
The company was devastated…
But it didn’t miss a beat. The work got contracted out and his name was only brought up for a couple weeks after in conversation.
Rarely took a day off. Never called in sick. And took any overtime available.
All for nothing.

I'm not sure, what do you mean by "brainwashed?" And brainwashed by coworkers, management or maybe the culture?

I see, and if he's a follower, he may not be able to see how he's being duped, especially if they are pyramid schemes and not legitimate sales jobs.

@calicuz Yes exactly man! You seem really understand. He is a follower . Exactly

Well, he's a grown man and should be able to take care of himself, but not every man can.

Not brainwashed but I see people who go along with things that they shouldn't because of the toxicity
I work at continual dumpster fire of a work place

To a degree, that’s a necessary adaptation to circumstances, isn’t it?
Not to swallow the corporate hype hook, line and sinker, but ‘getting with the program’ helps a lot to make one feel like getting out of bed on Monday.
Since we have to work, enthusiasm can help make it less painful.
There were a couple of jobs I just hated, and quit at the first opportunity, but I liked most jobs and where possible, tried to be a team player.
You are very right about being replaceable, but what is a company expected to do? Shut down operations and fire everybody out of grief?

I have read of several stories where people had become so wrapped up in their work identity, that when they retired, they ceased to be that person and within a short time, just gave up on life. 😞

You have to roll with it sometimes.
As in, you have to follow their rules.
Doesn't make you any less.
Until I feel like the rules go against the law and morals ....

What are the perks of his job?

@Mellowgirl Nothing. I earn more than him.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn he may just be a little simple minded then.
Sometimes people try to appear to be 100% dedicated so they can keep their jobs.
We live in a time where we are asked to do so much with so little in return, if you start to appear less enthusiastic suddenly your job is up for consultation or your appraisal is raising concerns which eventually lead to you being let go.

Jimbo, why did you 'heart' my lengthy post?
What was the heart suppose to signify as your chosen method of communication?

@JimboSaturn
You were busy at work and not giving long replies? I was actually busy at work when I responded to your post in the first place, so I don't see your point.
If you're not into giving long replies nor obviously ANY replies at all for that matter to posts you make that ask questions, considering that a push of one's little heart button does not actually constitute a 'reply' unless you're legally deaf and heavily invested in sign language, or you're not legally deaf but simply don't know any better, then I guess you won't mind if I shorten up the reply that I provided to your post then, right?

@swirlie Sorry I bruised your ego. It was not my intention
swirlie · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn
No egos bruised on my end Jimbo, but need to stand up straight and do better. When you eventually know better, you'll do better.
