Wishful thinking and conformation bias. You select the small times it may have happened while ignoring the vast majority of times it didn’t.

The universe is totally indifferent and anecdotes aren’t evidence.

@BlueSkyKing Yes! And by your own logic you are assuming.

It's infinite! It's not closed! You're justifying beliefs. By creating one. That's the recursion.

I think. Therefore I am. Therefore I am, I think.

Recursive logic.

And they are doing the same thing with faith.

You can't use one logic for all systems. You create one in the process.

If you're to attack them? Attack them within there own systems.
@DeWayfarer Faith is accepting claims without or in spite of evidence. My working adage is: If it’s not science, it’s superstition.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@BlueSkyKing You are doing the same thing that they are. You have made recursive belief out of science.

If you're to attack them? Attack them within there own systems.

You might actually learn something from them. Perhaps a different way of thinking.

BTW even Einstein supported the Hindu beliefs. And I don't espouse to be a great thinker.

Notice though I'm attacking within the atheistic beliefs. It's as well a belief.

Belief is not the problem here. It's the weaponized organization of the beliefs that is the problem.

You have turned science into the same weapon that many other beliefs do.

Therefore you are just as guilty as they are.

Yes have witnessed it a good few times.
Yes. I believe the universe can pay you back in kind for the energy you put out. Sooner or later.
DancesWithWolves · 56-60, M
Yes, I never failed to see it happen.
OverTheHill · 61-69, M
No. But I believe in the Biblical principle that "You reap what you sow" found in the Book of Galatians 6:7-8: "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."

Yes. Especially when do you bad things

I believe our actions have consequences, but not every trial is a punishment.
lonelyloner · 31-35, F
nope but i know that you can't bypass your destiny
Prince0217 · M
I don't think I believe in Bad Karma. I mean like if people do bad things to me then their Bad Karma would catch up, or like God is watching. lol.
HumanEarth · F
No, not really

If I did, that would mean I believe in superstitions
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
I think karma is for when you do bad things, it comes back to you when you least expect it
Oneofthestormboys · 56-60, M
Kind of.
It’s a nice thought at least…
I believe some people punish themselves for their misdeeds, and that can be interpreted as karma in action. However, there are sociopaths among us who feel no empathy for their victims and no guilt for their misdeeds.
Every time I think I understand karma, I read something that confuses me again.

I see it mostly as “as ye sow, so shall you reap.” I believe that to be true, at least to a degree.
Alyosha · 36-40, M
I don't believe in a magical force that attends to right and wrong, but sapient agents take right and wrong into account in making their decisions. Screw over enough people and the world might get sick of you.
faery · F
Yes, as a logical consequence of actions but not as an ironclad rule. Sometimes people do not get what they deserve and sometimes people do get what they don't deserve.
@faery Is this something that has been researched and tested? Link it up.

@BlueSkyKing Idk. Look it up

Absolutely 💯
Karma, generally means the idea that actions have consequences, and those consequences can carry forward to shape your future experiences.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Karma is a word that means action or doing. Karma is what makes the world go 'round. Good karma, bad karma, just plain old karma. I have a feeling one of these days some smart boy or girl will decide DNA is what karma looks like.
Tracos · 56-60, M
I'm not religious or superstitious, but I'm not taking risks with karma
Magenta · F
No not karma per se, that always feels like someone's wishful revenge.
But I know that life happens to us all, good and bad.
EldritchFox · 41-45, F
I don't know. I think like most things, we want to believe we are vindicated and watched over, but sometimes bad things happen and you just have to eat it.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Not really, at least not in any supernatural sense. Sometimes our actions and attitudes DO come back to haunt us, but it's more cause-and-effect. Other than that, karma is just people enjoying random occurrences they perceive as payback.
Picklebobble2 · 61-69, M
No.
Karma is the excuse we use to others that we think disguises our bias toward that person/team/country etc.

It's the equivalent of 'God moves in mysterious ways'
It means nothing but the person who says it gets to incorporate the idea of divine intervention when there's absolutely no evidence of such a thing.
