According to the Bible, life begins at breath, NOT conception.

I am not a Bible follower, I'm just making a point about how wrong these rabid prolifers are.

Not to mention all the kids that are born and then neglected, not just by their parents but the system as well.

The Bible is a load of crap, but God didn't create Man by birth in a woman so that doesn't apply.
At the time of the founding of the US, abortion was legal up until "the quickening" when the woman could feel the baby move in the womb. So the authors of the Constitution knew of abortion and did not see fit to ban it. OK, you want to ban abortion like we banned slavery? Great - pass a Constitutional Amendment like we did with slavery.

Abortion was frequently practiced in North America during the period from 1600 to 1900. Many tribal societies knew how to induce abortions. They used a variety of methods including the use of black root and cedar root as abortifacient agents. During the colonial period, the legality of abortion varied from colony to colony and reflected the attitude of the European country which controlled the specific colony. In the British colonies abortions were legal if they were performed prior to quickening.

Founding Father Benjamin Franklin published an at-home abortion recipe:

Yeah if we're arguing abortion based on the bible then it's pretty clear that life doesn't begin until the first breath.
Based on that standard, abortion deadlines these days are down right draconian lol

Well I sm. I believe it is the right to exist for all. Online I do a bit but I always remind people of the ethics. But it was talking to some people here that helped me clear my head more about it. There is nothing wrong with defending the unborn.

Cannot babies in the womb breathe?
@Montanaman

No, they cannot.
They are surrounded by fluid and have no gills, they receive oxygen directly into their bloodstream via the placenta.
Montanaman · M
@Pikachu oxygen through the bloodstream. Oxygen. Needed to survive.
@Montanaman

..yes, and?

The bible says a human life begins at first breath.
You asked if a fetus breathes....it does not.

On this, I agree with the Bible for a change.
Millerdog · 56-60, M
It's a spiritual metaphor 🙄

The Bible is bullshit.
GeorgeMousa · 22-25, M
@hunkalove yeah yeah.. But nope abortion is still murder. It has nothing to with empowerment. This is what my Catholic faith tells me and I follow my faith.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
To say nothing of the fact that the Bible contains numerous instances in which God commanded his people to commit abortions.
