I find it strange that the human body temperature is almost 100 degrees F.

I mean to say, air temperature at that temperature is almost stifling.

That's because you produce heat, if it's 37C around you then you have nowhere to dissipate energy to, and therefore your core temperature increases and will eventually kill you
