My hope is that it'll be proven out over time that AI use led to a huge loss in creativity and critical thinking skills im the workforce. And as dead internet theory proves to be true- and it's recognized that LLMs are being fed incorrect data more and more due to bots online- AI data will become less and less reliable/relied upon.

Besides I believe in my heart of hearts we're all heading for "The Crash" [global economic/technologic collapse] anyway.
salwa · F
@Starcrossed That's a perfect answer
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Starcrossed I agree AI will become seen as by no means the magic it looks; but I hope without the consequences you fear.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
AI is entirely dependent on human thought. It's origin is human thought. So, no. However, like the new "machines" during the Industrial Revolution overhauled society and human placement in society, AI will do the same. Like that prior transformation, it won't be easy on humans, there will be violence, and the deed will be done... no matter what.
BamPow · 51-55, M
Yes, which will eventually create the quandary of meeting the basic needs of populations that have been rendered obsolete as fewer people are employed/employable. We’re already seeing the beginnings of it, and it’s only going to get worse for people.
@BamPow Fortunately, the global population will start to shrink in a few decades due to the declining birthrate.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No. It can only replace activities phsycially similar to itself - such as routine administration or research based on using computers.

Being a tool based on computers AI cannot do what computers cannot do physically anyway, although computer-controlled manufacturing machines and systems have been established for some decades now. Even those still need human attendants - but they do mean similar volumes of products in shorter times with fewer employees.

Hi Salwa, 🙋🏻‍♂ would you like to chat? :)

Selfdriving cars and trucks thx to IA will have millions of people lose their jobs. Robots for loading and unloading the cargo
markinkansas · 61-69, M
anything that can be done in a office setting.. first then the fields like ai tractors and pickers . may we live in interesting times
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
It has it's place but will still need people.

Top AI companies like openAI and google are working on AGI(artificial general intelligence). We have already seen a great change in capabilities of LLMs from around 4 years. When this AGI will be embedded into a robot, you can imagine a super human capability like person without the demerits of a real human like tiredness, emotions, expectations (pay hike).

This is going to be dangerous in 10 to 15 years if all governments don't stop it collectively. Which is not likely to happen.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@ABCDEF7 The companies pushing A"I" seem to imagine they can develop such systems but I wonder how much of their claims is merely to attract customers and share-holders.

We already see the misuse of AI, and we already see AI itself being prone to errors.

I don't foresee the comic-strip type "robots", resembling animated tailor's dummies or a steel cross between video-game warrior-machines and the Tin Man from Oz. Rather, further development of genuine robots - machines designed for specific purposes and looking like them.

Maybe one day...

No, many jobs/professions will disappear though, as that happen in every industrial revolution.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No. It is only a tool and though it might be used to replace a lot of basic administrative roles and endanger the arts, it cannot do anything physical.

Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@ArishMell you know they have some really good robots now right?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Ferise1 I do, but the "robots" I consider useful are not necessarily animated tailor's dummies with built-in computers.
MrAverage1965 · 61-69, M
It will replace some but certainly not all.
I cannot see AI growing and harvesting crops, baking a loaf. Building a house, wiring it, plumbing it, painting it.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@MrAverage1965 you’re in for a surprise
I’m not really me here it’s my AI bot feigning sympathy. The real me is too self centered to respond
No but it will replace much of how we do things
JSmith75 · 46-50, M
I watched the Terminator it doesn't end well
Lsreading4200 · 31-35, F
Oh I don't think it will. It depends
Cooney1 · 51-55, M
Very beautiful
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Sill waiting on AIsexual and transAI and transAIphobia
Teslin · M
I hope not
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
Yes, of course the future will be totally automated, no one will have to work.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Ferise1 No-one at all? Not everyone works at a desk or on a factory assembly-line; a mere computer cannot genuinely be creative (rather than merely a high-powered sampler and copier).
