Dreadful 70s and 80s attitudes - and it's only changing slowly.
I remember a comparatively recent Toyota Corolla advert on tv in the uk which was based on the old swingers party premise of car keys in the fruit bowl on the table and you go with whoever's keys you pick. The "joke" was apparently on the guy who got the keys of the larger woman in the room. I vowed then and there I would never buy a Toyota. Can't stand prejudice of any kind - nor poking fun at people's physical appearance.
I have no particular preference for a bbw but then don't really have a "type" as such. All women are equally beautiful and attractive to me if the whole package is right - and I can personally testify how sexy a larger woman can be (apologies for the slight humble brag lol 🤭).

I’m sorry girl. I struggled with my weight and did some unhealthy stuff. I’ve learned to try to start loving myself as I am now.

I am not sure why I am wired the way am I but I personally never understood this. So much of attraction is personality and sense of humor. I don't even think I have a "preferred body type". I have dated tiny skinny girls and loved larger BBW women. Health is important, but "pretty" people can have ugly personalities.

Finding someone you mesh with on a personality level really goes a long way to finding the rest of them attractive.

I work with a guy, very very nice looking man, works out, is serious about his health and his appearance, he's clean cut, tall, fit, doesn't drink or smoke... an all around gorgeous guy and he loves big women. So don't you give in to the negativity of this world. Always know there is someone out there for you 💕

You need to have more confidence in yourself

I know it sound cliche but I don’t think the problem is the weight. My first wife was overweight since the beginning. My second wife became overweight after two children.
I don’t have a fetish for BBW. I just love a woman for being a woman. Nothing is sexier than a woman who feels herself a sexy woman.

Btw, look around there are a numerous good looking women everywhere feeling miserable. The look doesn’t help.

We live in a very fatphobic society and fat women definitely aren't respected. I have seen some more recent shows where a female character is just fat and everyone accepts that and doesn't make a big deal about it. I'm thinking of that show The Big C where Gabby Sidibe plays this character who is friends with the main character's son and no one makes an issue about her weight. There's one scene at a party where someone makes a rude comment, but this was clearly intended to show that person in a bad light and not to make fun of her as in the shows you're commenting on.

Many men such as myself find larger women attractive. I hope you meet someone who makes you feel the way that guy you knew in college did.
