What is Feminism

Feminism is not real
Just a bunch of bittered grown women with bad characters who couldn't have their way around men and instead of looking into themselves and try to adjust, decided that men are the problem and are hell bent on misleading younger women .
Dont get me wrong ,men are not always right and they also have contributed to pains women face over the years but that doesnt men all men are bad or men generally are the problems of women .
Hating the opposite gender is not something to admire .
Mind you the beautiful world and infrastructure we all enjoy today were mostly built by men
Let’s see…

How far back do you want to go on the list of woman who contributed to the success of the world in spite of men hating their “fairer” sex?

Cleopatra
Mary Magdalene
Boudicca
Joan of Arc
Eleanor of Aquitaine
Elizabeth I

Or maybe the 18th & 19th Century???

Soujourner Truth
Margaret Fuller
Marie Curie
Elizabeth Blackwell
Emily Murphy

20th Century???

Eleanor Roosevelt
Rachel Carson
Dorothy Hodgkin
Rosalind Franklin
Katherine Goble Johnson
Dorothy Vaughn
Mary Jackson
Edith Clark
Hedy Lamar

These women were paramount to the development of the world we are living in today. Whether through literature, leadership, national identity, sciences & mathematics, and engineering.

And they did it while being dismissed by men. While being belittled by men. While being challenged by men. While being feared by men.

Yet, through it all, they didn’t hate men. They loved their craft, their intelligence, and their strength.

Feminism, TRUE feminism isn’t hating men. It’s the desire to be recognized equally for the contributions that can be and are made by a truly phenomenal group of humans.

In most of the animal kingdom, the females hold the power. Human females just want to be treated like a human.

@TiffdaGift if it’s not for you or doesn’t matches you lifestyle don’t matter worse for those that this type of lifestyle is for.
The day when women are fully compensated for the work they at home and earn dollar for dollar of income as men; you’ll not have any additional arguments from me. Now let’s talk about that and I’m sure we can find some common ground.
@TiffdaGift I think you missed @Pinkstarburst 's meaning completely .

Feminism was bought about for equality , not hate nor disrespect.

Feminism is nothing about hating men , it’s about wanting women to be equals…to have equal rights, opportunities, pay….
Torsten · 36-40, M
@SW-User or crazy thought here, the job went to the more qualified person and gender played no part in it.
Im still waiting for you to show me a case of a women being paid less than a man while having the same position and hours. Show me the gender pay gay is actually real and hasnt been debunked countless times already

@Torsten I’m getting ready to go spend the day with my family at a Christmas market so not gonna waste any more time with a random person on the internet…have a good life
Torsten · 36-40, M
@SW-User ok so in other words, you cant back up your claims. Got it, enjoy the Christmas market with your family

The beautiful infrastructure was built by men because women weren't allowed to participate in the design and engineering of that infrastructure. When I was at school in 1981, the best technical draughtsperson in the class was a 15 year old girl, but she wasn't allowed to take exams in that subject and was relegated to studying cookery.

I don't think you know enough about this to comment intelligently.
Richard65 · M
@ninalanyon she listed it as a final year option but was told she couldn't do that as she was female. I spoke to her about it at the time and she was disappointed. It was a Catholic school, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Still, my point stands, in that women were originally barred from being engineers or enjoying the same freedoms men enjoyed, and then, later, dissuaded from pursuing that kind of career through misogyny. Women have been kept down for hundreds of years by stupid, bigoted men. Think how more advanced the human race would likely be had half of it not been denied the opportunities to contribute.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Richard65 I certainly agree that women have been held back. I was just struck by the contrast between our two experiences in the same country. And how negative yours was even though it was much later.
Richard65 · M
@ninalanyon I was a good technical artist at school, but she was better. That's why I was so annoyed. It's the first time I really had experience of institutionalised misogyny. It was a shock.

Feminism is the reason why men aren't legally allowed to rape their wives anymore.
@BlueVeins Not even a little?!
BlueVeins · 22-25
@BohemianBoo I know it's extreme, but the pendulum will swing the other way soon enough.
they also have contributed to pains women face over the years
That's quite the understatement isn't it. Not saying men are the problem but partriarchal systems held up and controlled by men were and still are.

Feminism is not about hating men your post is what is called a misrepresentation.
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
If you believe feminists hate men and think they are all bad, then I would say you have the wrong idea about feminists.
Woman seeking equal rights.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
Absolutely not. This is the social media feminism. As in, the minor percentage angry feminists who are using the feminism label to excuse trauma from men that lead to fear that lead to hate.

They are not the foundation or the majority of feminists. The rest are 99% of people in the society who treats eachother equally. As that's what feminism is all about.

Examples of feministic conquers:

- The law that made women allowed to wear pants to work.

- Women getting to have their own bank account

- Women getting to have their own career

- Daddy home days for dads.

- Men abuse shelters

- Mental health institutions for any gender

- LGBTQ educated professionals

Things that still aren't achieved

- Equal pay for equal job

- Women abuse and and oppression excused under religion's

-

Not what feminism is about.
And you're doing THE EXACT SAME THING , by giving misinformation .

You are defining ALL feminists ...and all feminism by a minority .
That's the equivalent of defining ALL Muslims by the Taliban . By defining ALl black people by the slave movement .....and it's disgusting .

In fact, your very right to speak freely is ONLY because of the Suffragette movement that started feminism in the first place .

Know the history of your gender before you condemn it with ignorance .

"Feminism" is an evolving movement, not something static with an agreed set of rules.

It saddens me, personally, that an influential pioneer like Germaine Greer can face the hostility she does because some modern zealots have lost the plot.

AI generated propaganda. This is really starting to become prevalent at SW and almost every post that reflects it is "New."
That’s your opinion, but it’s not based on fact. Feminism is one of the reasons women now have opportunities their grandmothers and great-grandmothers didn’t.

But what it hasn’t been able to do is change the fact that worldwide, women who want to go against the grain are still pretty much despised, dismissed, derided.

Feminism is also misunderstood. It’s simply the belief that women are just as good as men (not better) and entitled to their dreams, too.
Penis envy. 🤓

Feminism is harmful when girls and young women are compelled by feminist agendas and narratives.

It is also harmful when feminism takes away from men.

Receiving the benefits and none of the detriments isn't fair, either.

In general, I believe it leads to women having less empathy, and certain fields becoming less productive. It can also destroy the family.

Middle-class fantasies tend to make it harder for the poor and less privileged.

feminism today is angry man hating women, wanting special treatment at the expense of men
@wildbill83 really ?

I get many are disillusioned, but not all are fat ugly dykes.

You're stereotyping .

...and degrading women who have worked hard to fit into male domianted professions and seek nothing but equality .
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@OogieBoogie
I don't need to stereotype, they do a pretty good job of it themselves... 🤣
@wildbill83 I don't think memes are a reliable source of factual information 😂

Feminism involves prescriptive irrationality. It's evil.
TheGreatLeveler · 31-35, M
I pretty much agree with you on what modern feminism has become.
Anton · 56-60, M
Summed up well
@Anton you're a right ass aintcha .
Got a heart of pure rock .

@OogieBoogie thank you so much 🙇‍♀️
I know very well that there are so many things tht I don't understand at this age,
I really respect everyone's views and I try to understand
I think you're right so I admit m mistake🙇‍♀️
@Raaii To help you understand feminism you need to know what it's original purpose was:
It was to create equal opportunity among the sexes .

Women were not allowed to own property , vote , own a bank account or have any legal standing .
We were 'chattel' (property) .

It was the Suffragettes movement in England that started it all .
Because of them, and the women who followed them that we now enjoy the opportunity to have a paying job, independence, own out own home or car or whatever, vote and be an equal part of society .

But they didn't just fight for women ....they.also fought for immigrants ...and men .

It was truly about EQUALITY .

It's why today men can be stay at home dads, be seamstresses, nurses etc.
And why women can join the forces, be a bricklayer or a lawyer etc .

The suffragettes didn't want to overpower men, thet just wanted there to be equal rights and opportunity for ALL people .

The thing is ...it's a movement that is badly named. Some hear the word feminism and read it to mean 'feminine rule' - when it's NOT that at all. It was females fighting for an equal society for all people.
And it's these extremists that make feminism look bad .
Just as the Taliban make muslims look bad .

Most Muslims are good people with good hearts .
So are most feminists .

We aren't against women choosing to live in traditional roles - be a housewife. enjoy that life if you choose to .
.....but it's the CHOICE that is important .

That's what the suffragettes fought so hard for - choice ....freedom to choose to live your life the way that is best for you ..

..for women , for men , for all nationalities no matter your religion .

They were just pissed that white men controlled everything with an iron fist .
And it was THAT control they fought against .
Raaii · 22-25, F
@OogieBoogie thank you so so much 🙇‍♀️
