Are you excited about this eclipse?

Initially I wasn't, but the more I keep seeing about it, now I kinda am. I've never seen one before.
Going anywhere?
Have you traveled?
Taking the day off?

I've heard some schools are closed....due to liability

Not really, it’s being hyped up. But who knows what is planned. Southeastern Oklahoma is in the path of 100%, and a lot of people plan on traveling there to view it. They are sending the Oklahoma National Guard for some unknown reason and told people to stock up on groceries for at least a week, fill their cars with a full tank of gas before they get there, etc. I think some other states are doing similar things. Kind of sketchy just to handle the “crowds”. I live in central Oklahoma.

@iamnikki I always keep my pantry stocked. But there are some who only shop when they want to cook, they don’t keep a well-stocked pantry.

@cherokeepatti

Exactly. Why are they playing this up so much? It's nothing so special that we haven't seen one before. There was another one in December I think, using my eclipse glasses from that one.

@PatKirby I have read that CERN is being fired up. Maybe even officials don’t know what the consequences of that will be during celestial events. I have no idea. I heard before it was ever built and different areas were wanting to get it in their areas that it was probably something dangerous that they were playing with. I think that was the right thinking, no telling what they plan to do with it. There are sketchy things like dark rituals that have happened near the site.

Well, it wasn't as cool as I expected but it was still cool.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Musicman I did, but I was expecting it to get pitch black outside, with stars and crickets or whatever those things are chirping and stuff
Musicman · 61-69, M
@iamnikki How dark did it get?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Musicman looked about like 7:30/8pm
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
I took the day off
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@vetguy1991 it didn;t look like this for me. It was very bright in the center and even brighter around the edges
Musicman · 61-69, M
@vetguy1991 That is so awesome! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

We had a total eclipse here in 2017, and this time we're just outside totality a bit, but even so, way cool. I'll do what I did 7 years ago — walk outside my building and put on the same set of eclipse glasses I used then.
Musicman · 61-69, M
Not really. I don't even think we'll be able to see it in Florida.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@BizSuitStacy I didn't think we would see it, but we are supposed to be at 53%. 🤷‍♂️
@Musicman 53% isn't bad. Hasn't it past you already?
Musicman · 61-69, M
@BizSuitStacy Probably. I never even noticed it. ☹️
Won't be a thing where I live. We only get 15-20% sun coverage and have full cloud cover/rain.

Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
nope, its overhyped
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Hanginginthere yes I didn’t get worked up over it either.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@cherokeepatti but it was kinda cool when it was dark out for a bit
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Hanginginthere not my first eclipse, though. I don’t ever remember one being hyped this much
