My favourite art is from the Newlyn school - Laura Knight, Lamorna Birch, Harold Harvey, Henry Scott Tuke, and more. There is no outstanding gallery to showcase their work, but the best examples can be found in Penlee House, Penzance; The Box, Plymouth; and Royal Albert Memorial Myseum, Exeter.

My favourite - I suppose I've got to say - is the one nearest to me: The Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight on the Wirral. They have some very good temporary exhibitions, in addition to the permanent collection. (Some very good Pre-Rapaelites)

Never ventured to Cornwall, though I know the light is fantastic there.
One got offered a job in Truro without an interview.
Cornwall was the home of Bernard Leach too. But I’m no fan of his, too heavy.

Le Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, with the Centre Pompidou (aussi à Paris) being a close second.
Both are dedicated to classical modernism and post-modernism in art.

@helenS A fantastic museum, but I found the escalator difficult, as I had vertigo at the time.
Paris has some little gems too, like the Picasso and Dali museums, not forgetting Rodin.
The Louvre I found disappointing though. Probably the atmosphere.
