I wish more people were able to experience it. I can still get lost for hours in a beautiful painting and to the modern age that painting isn't anymore valuable than a fifty dollar smart phone.

@ninalanyon In America I think family and culture is the reason kids don't grow up appreciating art. In America entertainment is more sports or sex driven and it comes from music and television. Nobody really goes to museums anymore. I go to museums and appreciate art still, so I don't know.

@Lostpoet Now I stop to think about it I think perhaps there simply isn't as much of it in the US. I remember that when I was in the US (lots of business trips to Raleigh, NC over a 25 year period) I noticed how little public art there was. In most of Europe you don't have to go far before you see a statue, a wall painting, or just architecture that is more than merely functional.

@ninalanyon I think maybe we see it as more of an Aristocratic thing something only the privilege are into.

Agreed.
To me, true art is not just self-expression; that would be just self-serving Post-It Notes.
True art communicates something, which is why finding an audience, even eventually, is really crucial.
The greatest art communicates the clearest to the most people.
I think this is why music without words is potentially one of the most effective forms of art for communicating to many people.

It has many purposes.
Theres graphic art: which is usually directed at mass recognition - usually purposed for advertising and branding.
Theres therapy art : which is for releasing and soothing inner turmoil.
There's craft art: which is a wide category from practical to decorational.
There's Mastercraftsman art: which is usually for useful items so well crafted they become art as well.
Theres expressionistic art : which implies feeling over form.
I could keep going.
But lastly, there is art that is created for no other reason than the desire for it to be created.
In fact I'd go so far as to say most art is initially created this way.....and then develops an audience if prolific enough.
Many want to be an artist.
But i believe you are born one.
You don't become, you are one😊

I was a semi pro musician for years and years… it was a different persona of me…as off stage I’m an introvert
But on stage performing, I had connection to express my passionate creativity

Definitely. That is so thoughtful of you. Appreciation is a very important part of life.

I do think that sometimes people create for their own need... Whether it's a negative thought that needs expressing or just pure joy

One of the worst parts of being an artist, is that ANYONE at all who views your art, believes they are entitled to become an instant art critic. I always hated that.

I don’t really know what you mean but sure be an art lover. I don’t really understand most art, but I have made creative cartoons.
