What was the most terrifying animal you encountered?

A few weeks ago, a few workers in nearby plantation complained of wild fowls squealing and clamouring. Next time it happened, a couple of us went to investigate. It was like a battlefield. The wild flows were flying around, producing loud noises in a certain area. As we approached, we noticed a big king cobra standing up almost to a man's height. It was hissing and posturing. The ladies who came with us shrieked in fear and ran.
They refused to work near that location for a month.

It was a scary sight, but I must say that it was also magnificent. It is a majestic animal.

Bear on a trail in the mountains.
Another time while on a vacation hearing a cougar in the bushes growling at us.

@Blondily Bears are unpredictable and can inflict serious damage. Were they aggressive when you saw them?
Blondily · F
@Renkon No we were smart didn't move and avoided the bear until it walked up a hill and disappeared.
We never saw the cougar and quickly left the area!

@Blondily Good move. Are they common in you area?
Blondily · F
@Renkon yes they have been seen in town but mostly in the hills and mountains.

@Blondily So I guess you are familiar with their nature and know how to act when you encounter one. They are not common around here. Does standing still really help when you encounter a bear?
Blondily · F
@Renkon Well it can't hurt but works better if they don't notice you. lol

@Blondily 😂 .... emphasis on 'if they don't notice you'.
Blondily · F
@Renkon indeed
I was really scared!
Renkon · 36-40, M
@Blondily Were you alone? Do they attack unprovoked?
Ynotisay · M
@Renkon Just to toss out there, I've seen dozens of black bears in the wilderness, and even some in my driveway, and there's really not much to worry about. They don't want anything to do with people. Attacks are incredibly rare and are most always due to human error. Brown bears are a little different and pose more of a threat. So carrying bear spray is pretty much a necessity. But even then, if you do the right thing (which is to not freak out) you'll be ok.
Blondily · F
@Renkon No the hub was with me.
I just stay out of their way from a distance.
Renkon · 36-40, M
@Ynotisay That seems the wise thing to do.

@Renkon If you've never seen one in the wild I hope that happens for you. It's always kind of a thrill.
