Apparently they don't like the following smells, so maybe rubbing some of these on the trees will keep them away.
Marigolds, putrescent egg solids, mint, wolf urine, tansy, garlic, thyme, oregano, sage, rosemary, and lavender.
A lavender essential oil might be the best choice and certainly safer than trying to extract wolf urine 馃槅

@Whodunnit Rosemary works well if it will grow there. I have my yard and garden surrounded with the bushes, along with other fresh herbs.
@Indieoriginal i do have rosemary but not next to the trees. Might have to plant some next year
